Which best describes why you vote for your party?

Discussion in 'Political Discussion' started by Pujo, Aug 22, 2006.

?

When I vote for a candidate in my party, it's because...

  1. ...I like the candidate

    6 vote(s)
    50.0%
  2. ...I hate the other party's candidate (lesser of two evils)

    6 vote(s)
    50.0%

For those of you who generally vote for one party over the other, do you vote for your party's candidate because you feel they're good, or because they're the lesser of two evils?

I never, ever, ever vote a straight party ticket or vote out of party loyalty. I'm sorry, but I have a brain.

I didn't even mean strictly party-line (though the question would apply to those voters too). I just mean when you vote for a candidate that happens to be from your party, is it usually because you really think he's a good candidate, or only better than the other guy.

The purpose of my question is to see how high/low our standards are for politicians in general.

All politicians suck. So basically you vote for the lesser of two evils (Bush 2004) , for the candidate that supports your most important issue (for me, terrorism, Bush 2004), or for someone you truly believe in (Bush 2000 - man was I wrong).

We need more political party's, and more efficient government.
