    Nice find.

I don't know how more teams weren't after this guy given how steady and productive he's been.

I'm praying he holds up through the playoffs. He's made me forget all about Stephen Neal.

    Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

This guy has to be the best under-the-radar signing we have had in a long time. Stepped right in less than a week before the season started and has never looked back. Thanks Brian!!

Good question I'd like to find out the answer but maybe he didn't want to play for anyone else? He clearly has the resume to backup his playing:

    Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

I thought I remembered talk about an injury when the Chiefs cut him, but I could be mistaken; Waters only missed three games in ten years with the Chiefs. I think they just thought it was time to get younger; could have been a cost-savings move too.

Looks like Connolly helped though but I love Waters.

He's now a pro=bowler according to NFL network (though they say he's on KC)

    Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

Brian's had a great rebound season, and he's gotten a Pro Bowl nod as a result. I'd love to know if there was some flaw or trend that Dante found, because you don't usually see this type of improvement in an older player.

Whatever it was, this has turned out to be a hell of a signing.

    Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

Brian has always been a great player. His resume doesn't need explaining.

Waters was selected as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his play during a game versus the Atlanta Falcons on October 24, 2004. The Chiefs scored an NFL record eight rushing touchdowns during that game. Waters is the only offensive lineman ever to receive this award in either conference.

A Change of scenery can do wonders.

The only thing I can imagine is a situation like happened early in my brother's career when his wife ran over the CEO's dog in front of the family

Wikipedia is wrong about that; he is, though, the only lineman to win since 1992.

I think its possible Pioli had something to do with it.

    Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

Waters' play had declined in K.C., and they wanted to get Asomoah into the starting lineup. Since the Chiefs didn't want to pay Waters starting money to be a backup and Waters didn't want to go to the bench, it became a mutual parting.

That's the basic party line, anyway.

Lets give Dante credit, whether or not he had anything to do with it. Dante can do anything, see last weeks line adjustments after Mankins and Light went down.

    Re: Brian Freakin' Waters

Pretty much but there was also a definite rift between the coaching hierarchy and Waters as well. It was just time to move on for both parties.
