man would i love to see the beating the giants would get if this game came up this season.....

i would imagine the NFL ppl made SURE not to have this game, cuz then the "fluke bowl" would forever have its name

Pre-season week 4 at the Meadowlands.

Also...there is no game against the Giants until 2011, in New England, and 2015 in the Meadowlands again.

That stuff is automatically generated. You play a division in the other conference every 4 years. So there was no conspiracy not to have a rematch thsi year.

I don't know, I think that would just frustrate me more...

I'd be left thinking, "Why couldn't we have reversed these two games... then instead of getting meaningless revenge, we'd have 19-0 to remember forever."

i know about preseason, but preseason doesnt count...

also, i thought there were about 2 games a year for every team that were random.....and our random game always seems to be the Colts

how else do u explain us playing them EVERY SINGLE YEAR? (not that im complaining)

I don't think we would beat the Giants in a blowout to be honest.

We would win the game, but let's face it. When Eli plays well and the defense does its job that team is pretty damn good. To talk gambling just to illustrate my point, we would not be -14 versus the Giants again and deservedly so. We are -14 against teams like the Bills. The Giants I'd say, on a neutral field, the Patriots are about 6 points better than.

Those aren't random games either. They are against the 2 AFC division teams we aren't slated to play that finished in the same position that the Pats did in their division (ie. 1st place plays 1st place, 2nd plays 2nd, etc.)

Can someone sticky a thread with the following title:

EVERY NFL SCHEDULE SINCE 2002 HAS BEEN SET BY A FORMULA THAT IS THE SAME FOR EVERY TEAM.

    #75 Jersey

I'm curious as to why all the west coast games are on the road for us and Jets and at home for the other division teams.

Even with regular sized font, I realize the schedule is made out in advance.

Yet, even in advance, it seems that they could have tried to split the home and away games for each team playing west coast teams.

Perhaps we would have found a reason it was unavoidable had the thread not been closed.

For anyone that is extremely upset, I realize the formula evens out eventually, but why not split them up every year for bi-coastal division matchups.

    Anyone?

    #12 Jersey

The Bills and the Dolphins got @ KC, @ Denver, @ Arizona, and @ St. Louis. It just worked out against us and the Jets this year, that's all.

Plus, believe me I don't like the bastards, but look at San Diego. @ Miami, Buffalo, Pittsburg, and Tampa. PLUS the London game. That truly blows.

The only meaningful rematch would be Super Bowl 43.

It was probably random. We play the AFC West every 3 years. We play the NFC West every 4 years.

Therefore, every 12 years, we play the both western divisions. The way our schedule is broken down, in 12 years we'll play the west coast teams at home. Every 24! years we'll play them all on the road.

This is NOT a big deal. It's a once in 24 year situation.

The ordering is not random; in fact, it's very simple. Alphabetize the four teams in a division--e.g., Arizona, S(ain)t Louis, San Francisco, Seattle; Denver, Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego. Split them into pairs, call the first pair A and the second pair B. A team will always play both the "A" teams in another division on the road, and both "B" teams at home, or vice versa; the next time the divisions meet, they'll reverse it (guaranteeing a home-and-home series at least every six years in conference, and eight years between conferences). Unfortunately, it just so happens that the "B" teams in both divisions are on the coast, and the "A" teams are both inland.

So each AFC East team has to play both SD and OAK on the road once every six years, and has to play both SEA and SF on the road once every eight years--so the four West Coast trips happen once every 24 years. The good news is that the JEST are in the same boat as the Pats. The better news is that, assuming the current rotation continues unchanged, it won't happen again until 2032. :)

I agree. Neither one blocked Justin Tuck very well.
