Great second half for the Win guys. Now late in the 3rd Q, Patriots snap the ball, flag thrown just when Tommy is about to throw, Ref. blows it dead. Call was offside against the Lions. Why didn't they let the play go ahead and than make the call ? Had Brady thrown over ten yards coudnt we just turn down the penalty ? Bit confused . Again nice win. Just one clear weakness on our D, Arrington sucks at CB ! Happy Thanksgiving and oh before I forget the guy who sang the National Anthem, great voice and well sung, whoever he was. Love and best wishes from Bahrain. Abdul.

Because the OL jumped before the snap, killing the play. Since the DL neutral zone infraction caused the OL to jump, they get the penalty.

Thanks, didn't notice our OL jumping before the snap. Ok thanks for that.

It wasn't obvious but the ref included that part when explaining the call. Otherwise you are correct that the play should continue unless there is a clear path to the QB.

IIRC, by rule, neutral zone infractions/offside calls take precedence over everything, except possibly personal fouls, and, IIRC, can't be declined.

What's IIRC ?

It can be declined if it benefits the team but the OLine must not move early and there can not be unabated to the QB as both of these blow the play dead. those 2 reasons both have their own call
