Seriously everytime I come on here its like there are loads of threads about negative stuff.

Why post them here and give coverage to those people? You do realise that by posting something like that here with a link that people are going to click it, the site is getting more hits and that writer is more successful.

You should really be concentrating on the Green Bay game and any news concerning it. You should be posting articles that are saying positive things about the Patriots. That way the good writers are getting plenty of extra people visiting their page and being more successful than the douche who refuses to give credit to the Patriots at this stage of the season.

Sorry for starting a new thread for this but I think it needs to be said out loud.

I have thought this for some time. Whenever we post about cheating it gives the accusations more relevance. We should not give them a forum to debate on. Ignore, Ignore, Ignore...and ignore for good measure.

People somehow don't realize that when you make threads about an awful article, post a link to it that others will click, you are GIVING these idiot columnists exactly what they want. Attention, publicity, hits. It's the same thing with trolls, just ****ing ignore them. Otherwise you are HELPING them

This. If you post articles that are negative to the pats you draw attention to them and make them seem more popular increasing the chances that the news will spread, the articles get more hits and more people will write similar things.

yeah...just shut up PatJew...we'll just sit here and let the genius parade of Westhoffs and Arlen Specters take unwarranted blindside shots in our backs while we crochet little booties for Timmy the Pinkhat Patriot baby.

Please...you people are NOT being forced to participate OR read anything in ANY threads here. MAKE the threads that discuss what YOU want to discuss and carry on...and let others do the same without all these whiny recriminations.

Back in the old days we would drive our own discussions ... now the main page is pretty much a carbon copy of what the mediots want discussed ... works wonders for their page hits.

I agree with Patjew and Joker.

If people want to ignore articles that say negative things about the Pats, then go ahead.

But don't censor what others can or cannot access. This isn't North Korea.

It's a big world out there, and too many people in 2010 want to just hibernate in their little corner with their "approved" media outlets that reinforce their own view of the world. No one learns anything by sitting in the "amen corner" and restricting oneself to the approved sermons.

If you don't want to read it, dont. But don't tell others what they can or can't read.

People are never going to post exactly how you want them to post. Nor do you post the way each of us want you to post. That is part of what makes this a forum really.

I don't think anyone should be prevented from posting something reasonable they wish to discuss, after all it is an open, public forum. However I do think people should be respectful about where they post things.

If your topic is a negative one, perhaps it belongs on one of the newly designated threads for negative material such as:

    http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...bashes-pats-accuses-pats-cheating-thread.html

This way, people who do not wish to view negative headlines can simply ignore the thread. Realistically these threads will be merged anyway so why not save the mods the trouble.

It's still worth noting how oversensitive we are about criticism. There is a TON of glowing coverage out there. And these are the kinds of shots that come with being a top-tier team, which is how the Patriots are universally seen.

The Patriots are not a "really good team".

They are the dominant 21st century team in the most important and popular American sport.

There is no "de riguer", for they have no equal with which to compare.

When I became a fan of the Pats in 1974, the rest of the nation did not have an irrational or rational hatred for them. For the very same reason, I also could not get a mini Patriots helmet at the Needham IHOP when there were loads of Steelers, Dolphins, Cowboys and Vikings helmets.

Be careful what you wish for. It's not so much fun to be irrelevant.

I agree with the OP, and the fact that some people are equating his point with censorship kind of proves his point. There is a definite element of paranoia on this board. The OP didn't suggest that any authority block any posters from saying what they want - that would be censorship, Shmessy. What he is doing is simply trying to make a point to people. They can choose to think about what he is saying, and perhaps change their behavior, or not. That is a choice that they can make, not censorship.

You should let people discuss whatever they want on a message board.

    Let's do the math:

Amount of time, weekly, the Patriots play football: ~3 hours
Amount of time, weekly, the Patriots are not playing football: 165 hours
Ratio of time available to play football vs time to talk about football: 56 to 1

The only part that really matters in the NFL is the 3 hours the Patriots are on the football field each week.

The media wants you to believe those other 165 hours that they spend what-if'ing, stirring the pot, ranking teams, voting on individual awards for a team game, etc. also matter in the NFL. But they don't. They're just there to hold your attention on the market they've built around football games.

Enjoy it for what it is (entertainment). Don't pretend it means something it doesn't (anything at all).

What's funny is that I'm even posting this at all, as if it could possibly change anything. People here will still be greatly offended by the latest Felger article, titillated by a Lombardi twitter, and angered when Vick wins the Pro Bowl voting. Why? I really have no idea. The only thing I look forward to all week is the actual game. I don't watch ESPN and only read articles written by people who talk about Xs and Os.

what a crock..change what behavior? I see something of interest I post in that thread...if not I stay out of it. You want change, put up your own Ring-around-the -rosey Patsfan site and invite everyone you want in for a good cry...damn man...change their behavior...what are you, some kind of new age psychobabble psychologist?

I guess I misinterpreted when he wrote: "You should really be concentrating on the Green Bay game and any news concerning it. You should be posting articles that are saying positive things about the Patriots."

I don't think he's suggesting people shouldn't be allowed to discuss what they want. I think he's suggesting people should sack up and not get all pissy and paranoid about coverage, especially considering how up New England's ASS so many in the media are, when it comes to the Patriots.

I probably should have left my own views out of it.

The main thing is that the feeling I get on this board lately is one of the Patriots and their fans against the big bad world who are out to get us.

Thats just pathetic for fans of a team thats 11-2.

And the site has become media driven too it seems. I thought the idea of a forum was free thought not media led drivel.
