i remember it well, and there was a lot of hate. but in the end after he left for colorado he fell into obscurity. i don't think (at least back then) an owner in the nfl would hire him even if he wanted to come back after what he did to the pats.Fair enough, but his departure was pretty criminal. Admittedly, it all happened before I was alive, but my father still rants to this day about it. I grew up with a healthy dose of "Fairbanks hate".
