If we win the superbowl then come back stronger next year. Brady will have had a whole year and a another camp to gel with Moss and co. Morris will be back.

We have the SECOND pick in the draft right now that will surely be turned into a slew of 2008 and 2009 picks.

We can restock this roster and come out stronger then ever. The core of the team is locked up and young ( the lines)

Will the NFL have to do something? Will we be punished for simply being better than everyone else at drafting and free agency? Will the NFL have to step in and help the idiots who cannot run there teams?

Funny thing is the pats dominate in a salery capped sport. They are just better then everyone else.

Edit I know the colts are good to , but this year lack of depth finally caught up to them. The pats can still win with injury.

    #24 Jersey

They've done what they can already, we should have another #1 on top of that. Nothing they can do short of colluding not to trade with us and making us use the top five pick. Not that that's a horrible thing for us but the other teams could limit our options.

    Oye.

The NFL will do something if we give them an excuse. If the Pats stay clean there's nothing they can do. The NFL might come down harder on the Pats than on another team for a similar infraction, but they still need an infraction to begin with. They can't just say, "We're going to dock them a draft pick for being so good."

This is all a temporary situation. Everything changes including Good Things. Enjoy the Pats today. Tomorrow Brady could get offed by a jealous SuperModel, Moss could sign with the Jets, and Belicheck could join a monastery.

I agree. What I am saying is use backhanded tactics. Like officiating and encouraging other teams not let us ransack them out of there best player for nothing.

The NFL can and HAS changed the rules. Don't underestimate the tireless diabolical Polian who will use every bit of his influence to gain special advantage for the Colts and disadvantage for the Pats. Belioli need to stay flexible. And Kraft needs to lobby for the competition committe posts to expire and rotate.

They didn't do anything about the Bears after '85. Remember how they supposedly showed the NFL a new way to play defense, and that we might have been passing into a low-scoring era? Turns out their defensive dominance had more to do with having a perfect storm of personnel than with any system. Let the game evolve.

We havent won the SB in 2 years. We havent won this years yet.
When we won 21 in a row, back to back SBs and 3 of 4, the league would have been more likely to 'do something about us' if that was an option, than they would today based on winning 10 games and your projection that the rest of the league is going to give up and hand us the next 5 Lomabardis.

In the interest of parity, the NFL will pass a resolution (31-1) requiring the Patriots to expose 50% their rosters to be picked by the other 31 expansion-like franchises. For compensation, the Patriots will get the other franchises' late round picks 4-7.

The one thing that the NFL will never do is "underhanded" officiating. I guarantee you Goodell doesn't take officials aside and whisper, "Help the Colts win this one, would ya?" in their ears.

It would only take one retired official writing one tell-all book to sink the entire NFL, no way is Goodell going to risk it.

I'd like to think the pro leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, etc) have a vested interest in keeping the competition between the two teams on the field/court with no interference from an official of the league. That said, officiating is a task handled by humans - most times they get it right, sometimes they do not.

I can handle a ref/ump making bad calls from time to time. However, if it is proven league executives stacked the deck against any one particular team with what you are suggesting then I'm finished with that sport. This isn't the WWF where outcomes are decided beforehand.

Agreed - it would be taken care of by biased officiating.

As long as the general public wants to see the Pats lose they can get away with it no matter how blatant it is.

Listen pal, if you really want to make an enemy but writing a stupid post, then insulting me, I think you will be biting off more than you can chew.

I read your post, perhaps you should either learn to write, or maybe just have more intelligent thoughts.

So far the Pats are very good for the NFL.

Long before they become bad, parity will be restored.

Its going to be a real challenge for the Pats to win Superbowls after the 2009 season.

I'm glad that BB is signed up for four more seasons. I hope he stays and tries his hand at rebuilding.

Some of his best work has come in difficult years (2001, 2005, 2006). This year is almost too easy.

One rule change that will be implemented is more strictly limiting the compensation of first round draft picks.

This will increase the value of those draft picks and help restore some of the worse NFL franchises.

As much as I have privately asked myself WTF is going on with officiating, particularly in PI calls when playing the Colts, you are the voice of reason here. Conspiracies are way, way too hard to execute in secret and the temptation and reward to rat folks out after the fact too readily accessable. Yah, blow up a multi-billion dollar cash cow FOREVER just to have team X beat team Y.
