Okay, so after every game I like to analyze "What went down" and I know there will be a few people who say "The Jaguars" (In which from a score perspective it is obviously true), but I really mean what looked good and what didn't look good. A good team always learns from their loses, and playoff loses are no exceptions... Who went up: Tom Brady and David Garrard: Both looked incredibly solid. Besides that interception (which was a terrible throw that showed Garrard's inexperience in tough situations) Garrard really held his own and made me Proud. Tom was, well, Tom. Jaguars Offensive Line and David Garrard: Only one sack allowed, which is astounding considering the Patriots are, I believe, 2nd in the League in Sacks (right?). Solid Effort that really made our Offensive Line Coach Proud (or should of). Rodney Harris: Crazy, really. The thing the Jaguars lack is a great Corner that is a solid tackler. May we Have him? Larence Maroney: We focused on the Pass and let the run game, more specifically Maroney, run all over us. I take my hats of to him for Showing everyone that the Patriots DOES have a run game (even though I already knew it, but you know what I mean). Randy Moss: Only one catch for 14 yards? Why was he up you say? He blocked, amazingly well and he also ate up A LOT of our better defensive players opening up everyone else. John Henderson: The only one to "legally" tackle Tom Brady. So it only makes sense that he gets on here as being up. Look forward to seeing him next year, let's hope we draft deep into the Defense come April to help compliment him. Matt Jones: I've been waiting for this to happen since we drafted him. Maybe now we can get a 3rd round draft pick from him from that performance... Either that or hopefull he will continue to show up next year. Who was down: Dennis Northcutt: Dropped a lot of important balls that could have kept us in the game, We need to grab a solid Free Agent... and it is ironic the we chose him over Donte Stallworth... Terry Cousins: Only one to bite on the Trick Play, giving the Patriots a touchdown, and terrible at tackling too... Drafting someone to replace him next year is a necessity. Rashean Mathis: Left his big game plays in Pittsburgh, it seems... Couldn't tackle at all. He'll be back next year, but he needs to play harder. Randy Moss Yes, I know I put him on the "Up," but I kind of feel like he also needs to be on the "down" because he DID only have one catch... Maurice Jones-Drew: I hate doing this, because I love him to death. He's solid, and is going to be amazing, but He just made some mistakes that hurt us... Letting that Kick Off bounce gave us terrible field position and nearly cost us another turnover. Not to mention he really didn't run with the passion I am use to seeing him do... Stephen Gostkowski: Missing that field goal kept the Jaguars in the game and actually gave us some momentum, too bad we decided not to capitalize on that momentum swing... Jaguars Defense: Just couldn't Tackle or Cover! There were several bobbled passes that if one of our guys was there to just hit him it would have been incomplete... We just gave you too much time to gain control... Let's not get into how our "amazing" run stopping Defense decided to give you the run... Bill Belichick's Hooded Sweats: Don't hurt me, but this has nothing to do with his performance as a coach, because he is an amazing coach... and I know this REALLY doesn't matter, but he just drives me crazy. He looks like a slob. *shrugs* just a prefence on my part. As I look back on the game, I can honestly say that our Offense didn't lose the game for us, it was our defense... Going into the Spring we really need to find answers on Defense in the Draft and Free Agency Market. Ironically I could see the Jaguars and the Patriots drafting similar to eachother next year... Drafting Heavy in defense.
