I think the free agent market is pretty much over until after the draft. I really think the Pats and a lot of other teams will make free agent decisions based on who they drafted.
It is interesting that Spikes is still available since the 49ers and a few other teams seemed to be hot on him after he was cut. Does that mean he is asking for too much, still injured, or waiting for a legitimate contender like the Patriots to make an attractive enough of an offer?
I think the addition of Bryant hurts Law's chances of coming back to the Patriots, but doesn't slam the door shut by any stretch. He does have to come to the realization that he is not going to cash in big time this time around.
I am surprised that no one is looking at Hobson at all. He had a down year last year, but what Jets defender didn't? He was pretty good in 2006. I figure you can get the guy for a one or two year deal for cheap money. At worst, he could be a decent rotational guy. I guess he could just have unrealistic salary demands.
I think next week is the date to either sign Seward or lose a chance at him. I am guessing that the Pats wouldn't wait until the wire to sign the guy and must have saw something that raised a red flag or something to pass on him.
