Mostly just me jerkin off

Guess that goes under "Other"

Bowling for dollars.:D Now that the Celtics are back it will be them, then a little Red Sox until training camp starts.

HAHA yep. He tested positive in the pre-fight 'roid tests, and then he refused to take one after he was decapitated.

Two months is not enough time to fight anyone even close to worldclass at MMA. Bernard Ackah, his opponent that evening, is nothing to write home about, but football tackles just don't cut it in against solid takedown defense.

MMA is gay, I put that on the list with NASCAR, its NOT a sport. Im not going to explaing why because i dont want to, but I'll tell you this, if you beat the sht out of people, or get the sht beat out of you, you are not in a sport, you are in an "idiot ring"

I'm perfectly fine that narrow minded people don't enjoy MMA. Try watching a BJJ tournament and tell me that that is just "beating the **** out of" people.

If you want to see a small display of pure disciplined martial arts, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIUWH-tuGGk
If you don't, than cool... I don't enjoy tennis and figure skating. We don't all have to like everything.

Do you not find it amazing that a 155 pound man can beat a 400 pound man with fight credentials if he has great technique? Sure, Kimbo Slice and the appeal of some MMA is a joke, but let's not forget that Olympic Judokas, Wrestlers and other martial artists appear in these events.

common, that was just so unnecessary. And posting that something is "gay" followed by a disclaimer that you refuse to explain why doesn't really add much to the conversation does it? My guess is you haven't watched much, if any at all, MMA and when you have you didn't understand it. Not liking it is one thing, but dismissing it as "not a sport" is not only silly, it's totally needless. These guys are arguably better athletes than football players are.

so does that mean that tennis is "not a sport?" I get what you were saying, but I just don't like when people don't personally like something they can't just say they don't like it, they have to somehow disqualify it from consideration or bring it down.

yea thats pretty much how I am, I'll admit it. Who am I to say whats a sport and what isnt it? Im sure alot of stuff that i think are stupid are considered sports, in fact I think there is actually a national rock paper siscors league out there some where.

fair enough. You should give it a shot though. Underneath the corny WWE /death metal exterior is a seriously skillful sport that isn't just about blood and sheer violence. Unfortunately it's often marketed that way. I have english relatives that don't consider American football a sport because some of the players are fat and they stop it every two seconds for commercial breaks and timeouts.

I agree I am not a fan of the way MMA has been advertised to the casual fan in North America. The "cage" and the panning to celebs and porn stars in the audience sucks, along with Dana White AKA Vince McMahon at the helm... And the storylines on the TUF TV show.

But the sport, and the competitors themselves have the biggest hearts in all of sports (or at least right up there).

I have never seen anyone with the will of someone like Wanderlei Silva (and then how nice and appreciative he is out of the ring and to fans) or Minotauro Nogueira (who is impossible to KO no matter how much punishment he takes, and has amazing submissions).

Or how about heart displayed in a losing effort? The courage Tsuyoshi Khosaka displayed in his final fight vs. one of the best kickboxers in the world, Mark Hunt was incredible. He was screaming at himself to improve as he was going to retire if he lost in front of his home country. Or how about when Sakuraba fought the Gracie brothers, up until then thought to be basically unbeatable. Sakuraba won against four of them, only to be beaten up multiple times because he pushed himself too hard; he fought multiple opponents against people 20+ more pounds than he. He is still fighting at 38, because he loves it.

People should give anything a chance. I mean if you know after 2 minutes that it isn't your thing, that's cool, change the channel... but no need to tear anything down without proper education on the subject.

I'm glad you came around a bit, though Sivy.

Another Pride nuthugger:D

LOL
Not necessarily PRIDE, but any MMA without a generic "kick-ass, energy drink" theme is good with me. I love UFC for it's fighters and ultimately, level of competition, but there are many things I would change when it comes to marketing and business practices.
The PRIDE Grand Prix were phenomenal.

Dana White is poison for MMA....It sucks we have this ***** hole as a pats fan as well....:bricks:

Disagree. He's done more for MMA than anyone has done for a sport in the last 50 years. He's a promoter. He's not supposed to be loved by everyone, but everyone pays attention when he speaks and that's why he's so important.

Agree 100% I was just teasing. I'm the first to knock the death metal, cheesy blood/lightning way that the UFC is promoted. And the cage I think makes for more exciting fights because it limits fighters, but I like Pride/WEC/Elite's presentation way more as it looks more like a sport worth respecting. TUF doesn't help either, though I like watching it.

Most other sports do not hold my attention, but really enjoy watching Tiger Woods..

Any old school Bostonians would prefer hockey like me over the Sox (Ray Bourque / Cam / Taz / Stan Jonathan... But since Jacobs has killed the Broons franchise & there are no more bench-clearing brawls, I go prefer College hockey (I went to BU) then when its over to the SOX. Hockey was king for my 'hood' than the Sox ever were (& the PATS were actually 2nd for awhile).
I'm one of the few who prefers the 'frozen four' than the basketball 'final four'. Why doesn't college hockey get more exposeure?!? It's the best , especially if u have been to a Beanpot!

Nascar 2 ?!?! Are u sh*tting me!?!?!!?
