Troy coming back would be awesome, he can still play yet I dont know if it is taking a toll on his body, it problably is but he is awesome.

I recently pictured a terrible scenario in which Troy Brown signed with the Colts. That'd be even worse than Vinatieri, but we all know Troy is loyal to the Pats, plus....the Colts wouldnt pay him a bunch. Any scenario in which he left to play for another team would suck so badly.

Bruschi better come back. Obviously, it's his decision, but we're in tough shape if he decides to retire.

We badly need some youth and talent, but we need all three vets to help them transition.

A good wide receiver picked up in Free agency as opposed to the draft.

Ditto for an inside linebacker...... from FA.

Vinny Testaverde as QB coach, and maybe even more.

I don't give you as much grief as the other guys NEM. Lay off of the Ellis Hobbs diatrite. He's a good up and coming player. Not great. Just good.No
need to replace him.

FA wr's will command too much money. Ignore them. Bennett and Curtis.
Draft some1 in 3rd or 4th round. S.Smith or J.Hill.

Agree about lb. Briggs and Thomas will want too much. Bring in D.Edwards or L.Fletcher. If Tedy retires, then keep Seau. Plus, draft player to groom behind them. I like Harris kid from Michigan.

1) Bears lay a stomping on Indy. Colts break the bank to keep Freeney on board and lose even more depth.

2) Bruschi and Brown return, anounce that 2007 will be their last seasons.

3) Samuel is franchised and traded for a package similar to Tebucky (an early 2nd plus depth picks). I love what Samuel did this year but he's a poor tackler and not worth elite money

4) Graham is re-signed! He is out most important free agent and worth 3-4 million easily.

5) Seau is resigned to be the 5th LB. Seau can fill in as a backup at any of the LB positions and is far too valuable to be let go.

6) We fill out the holes in the roster with solid vets (not elite FA's, not unknown role players). Fletcher-Baker would be key. Torry James/Nick Harper would both be an upgrade over Chad Scott as the dime CB. I'd expect one of Tampa's CBs may be available as the team rebuilds. Michael Lewis would be a slick signing (and would allow Wilson to move back to CB if BB sees fit).

7) Draft Florida DE Jarvis Moss (a Willie Clone) and Texas FS/CB Michael Griffin. Also find a Branch-type reciever (Clemson's Chansi Stuckey fits here).

2. Franchise Asante to have him for one more contract year or trade him for future picks.( I don't see a team giving a #2 and a big contract to him, but Seattle also gave #1 for Deion, so who knows.)
3. TBC to come back not as a starter but in the OLB rotation.
4. Bruschi and Seau return
5. Go after Bobby Engram(UFA) or go after DJ Hackett(RFA) if you don't have to give up a #2 or higher.
6. CJ will have a decent year and then he will explode in his third year(based on college stats)
7. Bring in or draft a pass rush specialist for passing downs, this will make the secondary even better
8. Draft a lb(best value at OLB or ILB) in first two rounds, bring in London Fletcher
9. Draft secondary help(add speed and playmakers)
10. Look for wr help or O-line help(I wouldn't mind in the first round either)

Franchise Asante Samuel and use one of our #1 picks for a cornerback.

Re-sign Daniel Graham and TBC.

Re-sign Junior Seau and use other #1 pick or #2 pick for a linebacker or

defensive end to convert to linebacker.

Sign UFA wide receiver and use second day draft pick on wide receiver/

return man.

Draft another running back but use most of our picks to strengthen

defense.

Every year its the same thing. People throw up expectations that are just unrealistic.

The Pats are NOT going to draft a WR AND go out and sign one as well. Why? Because it would hamper the guys they already have. Caldwell, Jackson, Gaffney, etc. There are only so many reps you can get in practice. People complained about the Pats not keeping Branch and Givens because of the continuity factor, yet if you bring in others, then you will have to let Caldwell and Gaffney go after this season. Where is the continuity in that?

Seau won me over. However, we have the same problem here. If the Pats draft a youngerster inside (I know, big if) and then sign say Jarrett Johnson, then bringing Seau back hurts the youngsters by taking away reps.

How the Pats draft will be directly affected by how they do in free agency prior to the draft.

There are some pretty good LBs available. I prefer Johnson and Thomas over Polk. But, with the likelyhood that Thomas wanting big money and the Pats preferring to go younger, I think that Polk will be the one they pick up. There isn't much in the way of DBs available. I don't think Bobby Engram is going anywhere. Nor do I think that Hackett is going anywhere. However, Seattle DOES have a bunch of money tied up in Burleson and Branch already. My guess is they let Darrell Jackson go and keep Engram.

I would like to see the Pats do the following:
1) Retain Asante.
2) Retain Graham
3) Sign an OLB like Polk or Thomas
4) Sign a versatile player like Jarrett Johnson who can play DE/ILB/OLB.
5) Let TBC go. With the additions of Polk or Thomas and Johnson, you easily replace TBC
6) Focus on getting the WRs we have up to speed with Brady.
7) Draft BVA and hopefully add a CB,FS,SS,ILB,OLB, QB, RB with the up to 12 picks the Pats will have.

I agree with DaBruinz that continuity is essential to having a good
passing attack. I still think we have to add some wide receiving talent
because we have no guarantee that Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney
will be with the Pats after this year and do not know yet if Chad Johnson
is a boom or a bust.

With regard to linebacker, re-signing Junior Seau and TBC may be acts
of desperation. The fact is that we are in great need of younger
linebackers. Bill Belichick inherited Tedy Bruschi, Ted Johnson,and
Willie McGinest from his predecessors. He added Mike Vrabel, Roman
Phifer, and Rosevelt Colvin to the mix via free agency. I hope we
draft a couple of young linebackers but I do not expect any contribution
from them in the near future. Our only short term help will have to come
from re-signing our own UFAs or UFAs from other teams.
