I know this is stating the obvious, but our WR core is way above anyone else's in the division, WAAAAYYY better. Looking at the the other teams situations right now-

Bills- Steve Johnson's good.... but he's a moron. The Bills have not much else after that.
Jets- Where do I start with Holmes. He's a diva whose production is getting worse and worse. They have Hill who has potential but still he's a rookie. Not much after that.
Dolphins- Yikes. Let's just say Devin McCourty will be happy when ever he sees the Dolphins on the calendar.

How will the AFC East be able to catch up with us when their best wideout's are two divas and...Devone Bess?!? The only team I'd even worry about is the Bills because of Mario Williams and that defense.

    Thoughts??

I would say the Patriots WRs are the 2nd best receiving corps in the division...

    ...behind the Patriots TEs. ;)

I agree that the patriots have improved at Wr and have the best WR's in the division.

We are 13-3 AFC champs and likely will be better this year than last. No one in our division had a winning record last year.

I don't think it unusual that we should expect to win our division. As you point out, it IS interesting that the 2nd best team is likely to be the Bills.

Have the Phins, Jets, or Bills produced a top-10 offense in the last fifteen years? Top-15 offense?

Stephen Hill scares me. I don't necessarily think he'll pan out, but if he does, the Patriots are absolutely ****ed.

The addition of Lloyd (assuming he pans out*) took the WR corps from an incredibly shallow and, overall, undertalented group and turned it into something that could at least be respectable.

The addition of Gaffney (assuming he doesn't decline much from last season*) made this a legitimately high end WR corps and, coupled with the TEs, put the Patriots right up there with teams like the Saints and Packers in terms of overall talent. Branch has gone from being the WR2 to probably being the WR4, which shows the increase in depth as well as top-end talent.

*I expect both players to have very good seasons for the Patriots, and to help make this the best receiving group (WR/TE/RB) in the AFC.

Jets have been a top 15 scoring offense in 3 of the past 4 seasons, and top 10 once during that time.

    Dolphins were #15 in 2009.

Bills were #14 last year (2011).

He ought to to real good with the locker room presence over there. He's got Santonio Holmes to look up to. If we're lucky he'll take him under his wing and show him the ropes of the Nfl the way he see's it. And then there's the deadly accurate Sanchez to worry about. Or was that Tebow?

Let's not count our chickens. We don't even know the final group and they sure haven't played together. We had one wide receiver last year and he's not a lock.

Lloyd, Welker, Gaffney, Branch, Stallworth, Edelman/Ebert. Yeah that's a nice group.
And don't forget Gronk, Hernandez, Fells, Scaife. Try to cover those options!
AND if Vereen develops in the passing game as a reliable outlet/flat option.
Man defenses are gonna have nightmares and their coordinators will wake up with cold sweats the week before facing the Pats!

Tom Brady throwing left handed juggling midgets ensures this offense has enough firepower to subdue everyone in the AFC East.

The point becomes, is there enough firepower to win the Superbowl.

I actually feel bad for Stephen Hill. The Jets are a disaster as an organization and the locker-room has more divides in it than a 6th grade math exam.. Not to mention the horrible QB situation he has.. I'll be honest. I hope the kid can rise above it and last the 4 years until he is a free agent..

BTW, the Bills have more than Stevie Johnson. They also have David Nelson who showed a lot last year. you add them to Fred Jackson and that offense can be tough..

That being said, on paper, the Pats have one of the best WR corps in the league and one of the best receiving corps as well when you take into consideration Gronk and Hernandez.

On the Pats he would be scary....on the Jets he'll be out of the league in 3 years

I'll worry when they have a QB who can get him the ball 50 yards down the field!

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but unlike fantasy football there is more to the game than having the best QB, WRs and TEs. That goes a very long ways to winning games, but let's not forget that it is offset by their having better running backs and defenses.

Should the Patriots be considered to be favorites in the AFC East? Yes, absolutely - but let's not imply that all the team has to do is show up on Sundays and they'll win every division game in a blowout without breaking a sweat.

OTOH, the average score in the Pats' divisional games last year?

    35.3–23.3.

Chickens? Did Belichick sign a chicken? We suspected he went around the bend when he signed Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth on the same day. Now he's signing chickens?

I just realized that between the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills, I can't remember a top 10 offense in the last fifteen years.

As I noted earlier, the Jets were in the top 10 in scoring once in the past 4 seasons. They were 9th in 2008 (The Favre year). That was the first time since 1998. You have to go back to 1988 to find them in the top 10 again.

Unless I miscount in my haste, since the merger, the Jets have finished in the top 10 in scoring a total of 8 times. For a reference, The Brady-led Patriots have finished in the top 10 in scoring in 9 of 10 seasons. Overall, the Patriots have finished in the top 10 in scoring 21 times since the merger.
