    My Jersey:

First off we need to give the Bengals some respect.
They have a ProBowl QB and maybe the best WR in the game.
    Explosive offensive.
    They are dangerous.

I expect we will run at them to open up the pass.
I think they have been allowing 5+ yards per run.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see 30 carries and 200 or so yards on the ground. That will also control the clock and keep that offense on the bench.

I think they just might give us our best challenge yet...

I think that the Bengals are going to have a very difficult time stopping anything our offense wants to do.
Their offense is good, but our defense is just as good.

They will make plays on offense because of the talent they have. They have good enough talent to make plays that are well-defended. Ultimately, we will socre a lot of points, get comfortably ahead, and they will be forced out of their big play mentality. Once we lead, and force them to have 15 play drives to score, its all over.

Good offense, that will take advantage if we make mistakes, but I don't think the outcome is a very big challenge.

400 yds passing by each QB...
Limited running attacks on both sides...
Fast, uptempo game, lots of TD's...
    Down to the wire finish...
Bengals eke out a much needed win in OT.

I HOPE we see some good defense from the Pats. Good pass rushing, coverage, no big passes. Maybe an interception or two. And for the love of god, just ONE red zone stop.

We'll see if our D is any good.

These two comments sum up my opinion.

However you match up the units, Offense vs. Offense and Defense vs. Defense or Our Offense vs. Their Defense and their Offense vs. Our Defense the end result is there's three really good units, their offense, our offense, our defense and one really bad unit - their defense. We also have better special teams so far if you want to include them.

They'll score some points, they have a good offense. But our defense will be good enough to hold them to a reasonable point total - it's difficult to imagine their defense will hold us to a reasonable point total.

    I'd expect something like 30-17.

OK, logic would tell you the Patriots are going to use some two and three TE sets and run the ball down the throat of that week Bengels defense, which then would open up the airways for play action passes to Moss, Stallworth, Watson and Welker. That being said I wouldn't be surprised to see the Patriots in some spread during this game and going on some drives where they basically throw every down.

Right now just about everyone on the planet thinks NE is going to try and run against the Bengels and Maroney will have a big game. This is why it wouldn't surprise me if NE were to try and catch a Bengels defense that's expecting the run by coming out throwing. We'll see man, and it should be a good game.

There's zero reason to be concerned about our D. Zero. Even the red zone thing is a non issue to me - the numbers are what they are but we have WAY too many legit athletes on defense for that to be a year long problem.

I have become adept at using the Gil/Gino game calling via Fieldpass on my computer, and synching the TV picture to it by controlling the comcast DVR delay. Fieldpass blacks out the BCN commercials, so I get dead air instead of commercials. Only downside is that I can't hit the replay button for fantastic plays, but it is worth it to miss out on the TV clown announcers

Bengals D is just plain bad. You don't have to trick them, though I'm sure BB will. But just having Brady run through his reads is enough. Even if they know we are passing (empty backfield), they will still get burnt over and over.

Same thing running the clock in the fourth quarter. Not sure how good they are at stopping a runnng team even if they know a run is coming.

They have good O, we have better O.

We have great D, they have bad D.

It doesn't take much to do the math.

Biggest problem is another let-down start, like with the Bills. Don't see it happening, though.

Looks like a good chance at 4-0 to me. My biggest worry is will we get 38 points again. It's a nice trend :D

LOL, I know all this. I'm just saying since all of us expect the Pats to come out running it wouldn't surprise me if BB comes out passing. They really should run the ball a lot in this game though.

I think the running game will be counted on to keep the Bengals offense off the field. I would like to see they Pats have long drives to eat up clock. Maroney, Morris and Faulk should have a good games. Brady and Moss will tear it up once again. Look for the Patriots to take better care of the ball this week because the Bengals offense has the ability to convert turnovers into points.

I really see the opportunity for the Bengals to get a win here. Not being a homer so much as I am thinking that the Bengals are playing at home, after two stinging last minute losses on the road that were winnable, MNF, big national stage for Ocho Stinko, Pats will lose eventually...
Ah, who am I kidding here besides myself?
    Pats in a landslide, 78-3.

    LOL.
Hey, the Patriots did beat the Bengals 38-13 in cincy last year, Moss is great on monday night, Brady's great on monday night, Maroney had his best game of 2006 against the Bengals, the Bengals rush defense is ranked close to dead last, and the Patriots rushing attack is 4th in the league....maybe that score isn't to far off after all :)

All joking aside it should be a good game and I hope the Pats come out on top.

The stats I saw on the bengals D 27th against both pass and run.
    29th overall.
So maybe this will simply be an exhibition..see what we can do game,but...
Gotta respect that offense and those playmakers.
We will need at least a 21 point cushion before we take it easy.

I expect to see the Patriots defense play up to its capabilities. They've done well so far, but the Bengals will be the hardest test yet.

I don't quite understand why so many believe the Bengals will be able to score so easily on the Patriots. Yes, they have a really good passing game. But I'm thinking that our cornerbacks are very good and that the secondary is not a weakness on this team, but a strength. We'll see. I'll be very disappointed if the Bengals score 20. The Patriots need to hold them to 17 or less. I'm thinking they'll hold them to 13.

It's hard to do ball-control offense when you're playing a D that routinely gives up 8+ yards on running downs. It's a lot easier to rack up points, though. ;)

I know we're gonna score points...I'm very interested though in our secondary against this receiving corps; it should be an excellent test against a WR/QB combo that is obvioulsy far better than anything we have seen to date. I wonder if they'll let AD do a little more pass rushing.

I do think this is a good spot for Maroney to burst out (I have no problem with anything he has done to this point) and I think that the Pats will use more of an early run focus than they have early in the year.

Right now, I think the Patriots' offense is beyond "take what the defense gives us." They take what they want. They'll probably go with their base 3-wide offense a lot, do whatever they want, and score a bunch of points. Pass, run, doesn't matter.

The test on the other side of the ball will be interesting. I *think* the Patriots will do well, but we can't be sure until we see them do it. If I had to guess, I'd say the Bengals will score some and move the ball decently, but not enough to really challenge the game. But, hell, the Pats D could be really good and this'll be another blowout. Hard to know.

The only expectation I have is a win (but I expect that every week :D ). I can, however, tell you what I'd like to see. I'd like to see Brady throw for four touchdowns and Maroney pick up a score on the ground (or Brady's first five TD game). Imagine that, fourteen touchdowns through a quarter of the season! That would be unbelievable, but it's a very real possibility in a game that I think Belichick will want to score a lot to have a safe margin (or that could be a shoot out).

I don't think that Brady will come out in a shotgun spread formation, or that they will be pass happy to begin with unless Belichick feels that he knows something about Palmer no one else does. Unless he can almost guarantee that he can put the hurt on, he'll respect the Bengals O and try a little bit of a ball control, balanced offense.

I can't wait for this game, I think it's gonna be a lot of fun.

    Oi!

Who invited the Cincy Bengal? :p

The Cincy offense is definitely powerful on paper, though it should be noted that Belichicks speciality is taking away half of the oppositions game plan - normally the running game.

Without a healthy, confident Rudi johnson in the backfield I can't see the Bengals running for any other purpose other than to avoid selling out on the pass and getting Carson continually creamed behind the LOS.

To my mind, the Bengals are trying to imitate the Colts in their whole philosophy (on the field) with a high calibre QB, 3 potent WR's (the 3rd being out of football at this point) and a RB capable of steady forward progress (injured, as mentioned above).

Their D is also geared around the Colts philosophy of smaller, quicker players who are quick to converge on the ball - creating turnovers and the like.

Last year teams like the Colts were able to sell out on stopping our running game because we didn't have the horses capable of hurting them deep on a regular basis - this year is different.

Winning the turnover battle by at least 3 appears to be the only realistic way for the Bengals to hang with the Patriots on MNF.
