Any visits to Twickenham planned?
Maybe I could go to more hockey sticktimes
You young kids might be able to go a season w/o the NFL, especially if you go to/went to football schools. I went to the opposite of a football school. I saw a Michigan game w/an ex who was a Michigan alum a long time ago, that's really the only school I even look in the paper for to see if they won. Oh yeah, and my own school, which basically plays traditional regional rivals, but doesn't make a ripple nationally.
I can't make college football into an NFL replacement. At this point I guess I'll have to write books or something.
Wouldn't it be a kick in the ***** if there were no NFL season, and some guy cured cancer?
"Well I knew pretty much how it would work, but what with the pre-season, the off-season, free agency, the draft, my fantasy team... truth is I just didn't have time before...."
Didn't know Americans where big on cricket haha you have the world cup to look forward too .. Soccer season winding down will have to do it for me
It's the NHL for me, but I'll be in training this fall (and maybe winter hopefully), so no NFL won't matter much to me from a viewer standpoint. Hockey is actually my favorite sport, so if the NFL locks out long enough to affect me, it could fall down a rung.
Different Rugby, that one is Rugby Union (slower paced all pile on) and Rugby League is the less-known faster version. A common mistake though because league is really an unknown sport outside of Australia, New Zealand and the north of England.
There's also the US Open in tennis from August to September.
So....who wants to teach me about cricket?
Cricket is a surprisingly great game. An (Indian) friend of mine calls cricket "an Indian game that happens to have been invented by the British".
I enjoyed the Rugby NBC was showing before. I could watch a few games of that on Sunday's and not complain.
Oh, and those guys prove the NFL could be played without helmets, but that is a different post entirely.
Even my wife has started to miss football since I have nothing to do today and keep annoying her.
It's going to be a long off-season. :bricks:
YouTube - James Evans try have a watch of that, some fantastic balance and just well...it's a bit mental the build up in the play
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYR77k1Lwlo&feature=related and how about a new kick returner?
Think about Baseball. Now remove three of the bases, put sticks where home plate is, make the pitcher throw the ball at the ground, and make the game slower. If you find baseball too fast-paced to follow, cricket is the game for you. Your matches last for days, plural, and in the middle of the game they have timeouts so everybody can take off their sweaters (or "woolies.") And when you actually catch the ball, you show it off to the ref and yell "HOWZAT!?" evidently seeking not only a favorable ruling, but also his quasi-paternal approval.
Now then, I've only been to one test match in person. I think it was a test match. I don't actually know the diff between a test match and just a match. In any event, I went to a cricket game, to put it in English. Before resorting to cricket, I heartily recommend that we have another look at Peyton Manning's cookie licking league.
Just one man's opinion, of course.
I will lock myself in my room and cry until we see football again.
I now spend my Sunday afternoons at the gun range, and plan to start wall climbing next week. Was going to go today but was not feeling well. So 2-330 wall climb 4-6 gun range, then 7-8 martial arts practice, and then a dvd or a book.
2. Spend newfound time with a loved one or friend
3. Eat away your boredom
4. Sleep away your boredom
5. Try shrooms or acid
Just reading your schedule I need a nap.
1. Wish there was more football.
2. Look at uni briefs, and wonder when I will start them.
3. Realize how crap Sundays are with no football.
4. Realize how quiet twitter is with little going on.
5. Wish there was more football.
Very cool vids, thank you. I recently signed up for Fox Soccer Plus so I can see Serie A, and I saw they show rugby as well. Looks like I have new sports to get into.
It's very frustrating in America when quality games like rugby and "soccer" get no love. I much prefer them to baseball, and wish they would get a fair shake (MLS doesn't count).
Don't do it to yourself!
One of the worst sports EVER!
