What Are the Jets Video Taping?

I agree it was nothing. That isn't what I was arguing. The fact is that BB wasn't penalized because they had a camera on the sidelines. They were penalized because BB ignored Goodell's order regarding taping signals and pissed him off.

You left out the part about that order coming out more than a year before the infamous Jets game, and in the ensuing year, the Jets were caught taping the Patriots, and they claimed they had permission from the Patriots. When the league basically INVALIDATED the memo they sent a year earlier, what was Belichick supposed to think?

Because he didn't go to the NFL with it.

what is florio's email address?

Then this time we need to make a big enough stink about it that it gets on PFT, ESPN and every Boston newspaper. So Goodell can't ignore it.

Yeah! Let's rehash the entire painful event for the umptenth time so that it will never die! Yippee, I'm so excited!

Two more things...

1. No self-respecting member of the media would be caught dead wearing a Jets shirt at a game the Jets were playing in. Most wouldn't be caught dead wearing any NFL "team" gear while they were covering an NFL game.

2. There's a reason why the NFL outlawed videotaping "of any kind" from the sidelines. Because they didn't want to have to review 32 tapes every weekend to make sure no one was filming signals.

Obviously, we can't be sure because most of the cameraman's face is obscured, but he at least resembles the Jets' Offensive Quality Control Coach, Lance Taylor.

So there are articles out all over the place about it happening and the NFL doesn't know about it?

Maybe because the NFL realized the rule wasn't worth enforcing?

stupid goodell set a bad precedent for punishing the patriots hard for a rule infraction. you're allowed to film, but only in specified locations. the sideline is not one of those locations.

i expect a 500,000 fine and draft pick loss for the jets.

Great point, especially when you realize that the sideline video crews actually have their feeds plugged into the instant replay system. This isn't NFL Films that we're talking about.

Of course they knew about it, but it doesn't matter because it was never about just having unauthorized cameramen. Thats why nothing was ever done about it then and nothing will ever be done about it now.

When addressing this incident, the NFL's Steve Alic said the Jets received permission.

Why would the Patriots give the Jets permission to videotape?

They didn't!! That was the out. The Patriots responded to the NFL by saying no one gave the Jets permission.

The rule was about having cameramen filming from the field. That's the rule.

You think the Patriots were issued the largest fine in NFL history because they had a camerman in the wrong place? Seriously?

It had nothing to do with camera placement.

It had nothing to do with "cheating".

All this was because BB pissed off Goodell. That it nothing else.

Agreed to some degree.

That said, I hope someon in the Pats' organization like Stacy James pushes this. If nothing else, you hold Goodell's feet to the fire when it comes to enforcing a double standard. At best, the Jets lose a 1st round pick.
