He's tall, twenty-nine (soon to turn thirty) and probably will have motivation. And Gamble's from Massachusetts.

Re: Are either Chris Gamble or Adrian Wilson options?

It really depends on price. Would love to have Wilson though. He would be a more natural strong safety to complement McCourty's range, and a great guy for Tavon to learn from.

I'm really beginning to wonder if an elite corner is necessary to win a Super Bowl. Baltimore won this year without their best corner, the Giants won starting Aaron Ross and Corey Webster, Green Bay had some great corners in Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson (the exception), Pittsburgh won starting Ike Taylor and Bryant McFadden, and New Orleans won starting Jabari Greer (under-rated at the time) and Tracy Porter.

The last time we won a Super Bowl, due to injuries to Ty Law, we started Asante (who only started half the season) and Randall Gay.

I'm not saying I don't want a better secondary; we absolutely need one. But it doesn't necessarily have to rely on an elite corner. Several teams had great safety play, from the Giants with Antrel Rolle, Pittsburgh and Polamalu, the Ravens and Reed, and Darren Sharper had an incredible year for New Orleans.

I think Gamble might come cheap since he's coming off of a shoulder injury and missed most of last season.

Eric Wright's another player who will likely be released, he won't take a pay cut. He's twenty-seven.

I'm surprised nobody has run with the obvious pun about taking a Gamble yet?

I can live with this starting secondary next season.

Devin McCourty, Louis Delmas, Phillip Thomas, Chris Gamble

i think he will still get 6 or 7 million on the market, i think someone like Rashean Mathis or Marcus Trufant, would be more in the pats price range re-signing Kyle Arrington, is also a big need IMO,

the pats best bet for geting a top CB is if one falls to them in the Draft at #29 and has a big rookie season like McCourty did

I think the top corner backs will be all selected before New England's pick, or they won't be worth selecting in the first round.

Dee Milliner, Xavier Rhodes, Desmond Trufant and Johnthan Banks.

Depends. Some believe there could be a run on corner backs, maybe not. I prefer to use the first round pick on a safety. New England might have to reach on their guy.

Kenny Vaccaro, Eric Reid and Phillip Thomas.

The latter two could be still available at twenty-nine.

New England really needs a play-maker or an impact rookie. But I don't trust selecting a corner back, though. Hence, my belief in trying to select a top safety in the first round.

100% agree. Teams with mediocre CBs need solid FS/SS play and a pass rush to win.

What signs, you mean all the probably agent manufactured reports getting "leaked" lately? As Reiss said well this morning:

Wilson sucked. Gamble I'd be okay with as a budget friendly plug. But that's contingent on that other money being spent on a good safety or DT, not another offensive weapon.

Lets sign Gamble and Toler. Why not, both of them should come relatively cheap.
