We had a family friend create a really nice mailbox & post for us. It lasted about 9 months before someone (in the middle of the night) went off road, and nailed it with the side of their vehicle. The impact smashed the top half of the post (along with the mailbox) clean off. And, the person who caused the damage chose the old hit and run, over informing us of the damage. So, we had the damage fixed, and our mailbox had been standing perfectly fine since.

That's right, someone ran into our mailbox AGAIN! This time it was a legit accident, and the guy who hit the mailbox actually came to the door.

Anyways, the weather caused his car to slide off the road (he tried to stop but couldn't), and our mailbox post was pulled completely out of the ground and smashed by the impact. The driver also came about two feet from smashing into a telephone pole, so things could have been much worse.

I can't really be mad about it (sh*t happens), but I'm really getting sick of having to fix/replace my mailbox.

Ugh, I hate mail boxes. Thank God in my area they still deliver to the door. May I suggest putting the box on a 5' x 3" iron pipe set in 3' of concrete? Then after the next person that hits it you'll only need to paint the pole. :D

    This is actually somewhat unbelievable...

Today (3/28/08), someone actually hit our mail box with their car, again!

Earlier today some guy driving a Toyota Camry went off the road, and hit our mail box, but this time it was a little worse...

He also hit the telephone pole just in front of our house. Don't worry, he was completely fine, but the car was totaled, and the telephone pole actually broke in half. The Power company came, and replaced the pole (they had to drill a new hole), then the the phone guys and cable guys switched all their cables over from one pole to the other.

I tried to take a picture of the car, but it came out blurry, as my batteries were dying, and I rushed it. See, I forgot I had the shutter speed set low from the night before. In any case, here's the best I can do.

From what I could tell, he actually jumped the snow bank on the other side of our driveway, then landed straight into our mail box, and that telephone pole.

Oh, and just to save face, I usually take pretty good photos:

Hey, this is Liverpool, not Moss Side. Although it's a poor area, I think their lack of doors is mainly because of shotguns.

you must have a haunted road or something.
