Before I say anything, the point she's making is certainly arguable. Republicans in 2006 had tons of scandals and problems. That laundry list of issues is part of the reason, or a major reason why the GOP was b1tch slapped that November. What's funny though, is that the author is trying to make it seem like there's a better corruption. Have we truly reached the point where we openly say that our corruption is ok, cuz it's not as bad as theirs? Seriously, shouldn't we all be intolerant of corruption of any kind? If I cheat on my wife, but only sleep with one other woman, would she feel any better if I said "hey, it's not that bad. Your ex slept with 2 women behind your back. All I slept with was one!" Again, the GOP in 2006 was horrid with this stuff. The dems promised to clean it up, and now are in the news each week with issues of their own. The people, as well as the parties, shouldnt tolerate corruption of any kind. I always come back to the time William Jefferson's office was raided by the feds, and they found $100k in his freezer. I'd never seen dems and pubs stand side by side so much in my life. Dennis Hastert & I forget the dem, were side by side, holding hands, criticizing the FBI on TV. Why? cuz they were mortified that their office would be next!

I think this comment from a reader says it all.

Are 2010 Dems as corrupt as the 2006 GOP? - Joan Walsh - Salon.com

The cronyism within American politics has gotten significantly worse over the years. We're not on the level of Putin's Russia, but our elected officials seem to be dutifully working to close the gap.

Even the most hated are still not getting the message. Only way that the message gets through is by removal from office.
