Werder: Resentment towards Gronk in Pats Lockerroom

I am sure the players are confused because his practice sessions have looked great. I am beginning to wonder if BB puts him on IR so he doesn't become a distraction.

you have to threaten IR. Tell Gronk, look we feel you are healthy enough to play so play or we'll just IR you.

lol, that is kinda the point. The coaches, his teammates, the Patsies front office, etc. all feel that Gronk SHOULD be back right now, i.e. NO ONE is asking him to "rush it." Everyone feels at THIS point, that he is just being unreasonable and making this ALL ABOUT GRONK. You do realize how Belichick and Kraft feel about players who make things ALL ABOUT THEM, right?!

Isn't "Patsies" a dead giveaway that one should not respond to this post?

I find it interesting that the entire article is based on one source only identified as someone in the organization and is written by a guy with zero ties to or history with the team
I'd love to know who it is. It's not a player and just from the jargon used clearly not anyone who is at all high up in the organization.

Per the Werder article, for those who don't have full Insider Access:

"Teammates and coaches have seen him run patterns, catch passes, use his arm to pass protect, run block and to separate from defenders at the line of scrimmage, and they doubt a doctor would allow so much contact if there remained serious concern about the health of his forearm.

They are having difficulty reconciling seeing Gronkowski perform like that and then not take the field with them for the games.

"If he's not playing in games, he damn sure should not be doing what he is in practice," said the same source who mentioned resentment."

^^^^ummm...at this point, I believe that it is fair to say that this is getting BAD guys, whether you want to admit it or not.

He'd get payed while on IR. Why do that?

He'll play at some time this season, I'm willing to wait until he feels 100%.

50% of his problem is physical. The other 100% is mental :D

ban this Rat troll....

...and here is the resident sunshine pumper-in-chief to the rescue, with his daily dose of nonsensical optimism. Of course you're correct, chief...I am sure that the article is WAAAY off-base, and there is not a single drop of mistrust or resentment toward Gronk ANYWHERE in the Pats locker room. Well-said and Bravo!

Ever run propaganda for the Ayatollah back in the day? :singing::singing::singing: derp derp derp...

Is this you Gronk?:D

It's all in his head, if he isn't playing today - first thing in practice next week send Spikes straight at his arm, it's likely nothing bad will happen from it and that mental block is gone, he's taken a hit on the arm.

He needs to grow up though, if this is all true how can he look other players in the eye when you have Danny Amendola playing with his torn groin and other players with various ailments?

As a pats fan, I just want to win. But if I was in Gronk's shoes, my course of action would be not to jeopardize my career no matter what. He still wouldn't be playing if he had been placed on pup at this time so just leave the guy alone.

All everyone is doing is just adding unnecessary stress because Gronk holds all of the power. He is too valuable to cut or place on ir. After the multiple treatments to the arm, I'm guessing Gronk has learned that patience is a virtue.

Makes sense that guys in the locker room think he should play. They are football players and they have spent their whole life playing when it was not the smart thing for them to do medically. It is the culture of the sport. It is why guys are purposely messing with their baseline concussion tests so that if they get a concussion they have a lower bar to clear to play again.

Gronkowski has played each of the last 2 seasons when he probably shouldn't have. He chose a riskier surgery in order to get back for the playoffs last year. I have a hard time questioning his toughness or commitment. I think it makes sense he wants to be cautious after 5 surgeries.

This is a case where Dr Andrews is saying he isn't ready. Imagine the reaction if against that advice he plays today and gets hurt?

Just curious....Are there any examples of players getting docked pay checks for refusing to play despite team medical clearance?
I find it difficult to reconcile the fact that he can practice for 6 weeks but can't play. For the "just another guy" category of player, teams might come down heavy and give a "piss or get off the pot" ultimatum with the threat of lost paychecks. Why pay a guy that cleared medical but refuses. The Gronk camp, understanding the tenuousness of the situation, preempts any ultimatum by interjecting the one "authority" whose reputation never gets questioned. Brilliant move by Rosenhaus if he did orchestrate this. "My guy trumps your team medical staff." At least in the eyes of the players, probably the NFLPA, and the court of public opinion. How can any team over rule the great Dr. Andrews?
So my question: Who brought in Andrews?

you have to threaten IR. Tell Gronk, look we feel you are healthy enough to play so play or we'll just IR you.

We can't. And the reason why we can't is because as of right now, the team needs gronk more than he needs the team. And that absolutely sucks to say. Gronk and his camp as all the leverage in this.

my course of action would be not to jeopardize my career no matter what.

Any game of Football could be your last game of Football though.

If he's using his arm fine in practice then he can use it in a game, at this point he's holding out - time to start fining him, you know he all of a sudden he would be willing to play then.

Because gronk is a football player and wants to play.

Um, because his injury is on a completely different level of severity? It has been reported many times that Amendola is not risking further injury by playing. Gronkowski is literally risking his career by going out and taking full contact on that arm. I'm not a doctor, but let's review the facts:

1. Gronkowski breaks his forearm on a freak play where it looks like someone ran into his arm on the FG team.
2. Gronkowski undergoes surgery to put hardware into his arm.
3. The next time we see him, in the season finale vs Miami, he is just dangling that arm down by his side, terrified to so much as touch a Dolphin player with it.
4. 2 weeks later, he re-breaks the arm on a routine play that no one without an issue in their forearm would even get a bruise.
5. At that point, it would have been fair to say that there was some serious concern about the integrity of his forearm.
6. He has undergone THREE SURGERIES on the arm since that time. There have been reports of multiple infections.
7. He has not been cleared to play by an independent surgeon of worldwide repute, 21 weeks after the last of the 4 surgeries.

Based on these facts, I think it is safe to say that this is an extremely serious situation, and to analogize it to a groin pull, bruised ribs or whatever other minor ailments people play with, is ridiculous.

Because gronk is a football player and wants to play.

If his arm isn't ready now it won't be ready this year. It him. Remove the plate. Hope for 2014 hell be ready.:rocker:

See what I'm confused about is why Gronk brought in Dr. Andrews for his arm when Andrews is a orthopedic surgeon. The closest thing he does that is related to arms is Tommy John surgery. I know that all doctors have knowledge on the entire body, but if Gronk is that worried about his arm then why not ask a specialist? It would be like if I was worried about injuring my shoulder after surgery so I asked a cardiovascular surgeon to clear me before I went back to my sport. Sure he could help, but why not go to the guy who has a better understanding of the situation?

If the reports of dissension on the locker room and on the team are true then todays game is going to be more of a blowout than previously thought...it could be the ugliest game in Foxboro in a LONG time, we're talking Atlanta 98 or 99 ugly....

My guess..his agent probably as a close relationship with Andrews.
