If the Pats are deciding to trade for an OLB, they better do it fast. The Jets lost Calvin Pace tonight indefinitely with a broken foot. I will love to see the Jets go up in flames, but not by injury.

Pace is their best pass rusher and with Jason Taylor being non-existent all training camp and preseason they are going to have to add someone. The good news is that they will probably target Adalius Thomas rather than someone the Pats may go after.

I hate to see anyone get hurt. Hope his recovery goes well.

I don't feel bad for the rats in general though!

    That really sucks about Pace.

I don't see anybody available that would be able to make an impact for the Pats.

FYI, not sure how accurate the report is. He clearly has a foot injury and Ryan has said he will be out for a few weeks. The Jets Insider message board says it is broken and he will be out for 4-6 weeks.

Ryan also said Jason Taylor will be the fulltime starter until Pace returns. From what I have read and seen of Taylor so far as a Jets, that looks to be a huge drop off.

Defense was still good (it was rex grossman however). Offense was pretty inept.

    #95 Jersey

This. I hate to see anyone get injured but I hate it just a little bit less when it's a greenbean.

Be careful what you wish for. Ryan has Gholston playing like he actually belongs as a DE. He could motivate Crable into the OLB the Pats thought they were drafting. Anyway, it would not cost him much to give old Shawn a good ole college try. The ratings for Hard Knocks would be through the roof -- especially in curious New England.

Regardless of what the Jets may or may not do between now and the start of the regular season, I disagree with the assumption that the Pats are going to be looking to add an OLB who is cut or to trade for one.

If the Pats were going to add an OLB they would have done so long ago. Unfortunately it is not as simple as signing a player and he immediately contributes and is productive. One example would be Derrick Burgess; look how late in the offseason he was traded for; things didn't click for him until December. Another example would be WR. The Pats did not add anyone even though first Lewis, and then Galloway did not work out last year, despite the obvious need for an upgrade at the position. Taylor Price missed a relatively short amount of time due to rules about having to wait for his class to graduate, and he has been behind others in his learning curve all offseason.

If the Pats do add someone it will be a developmental type of player, with an eye on 2011. Sorry to say but there's no saviour walking through the door in the next couple of weeks.
