It didn't take long. From his Monday Morning QB:

1. I think if the silly lawsuit filed by the former Rams player we've never heard of, or the rantings of Arlen Specter can get us closer to the bottom of how much the Patriots taped and whether those tapes ever influenced the outcome of a Super Bowl, I'm all for it.

The most significant thing I've read in the last few days came from Dave Goldberg of the Associated Press, who got the attorney of former Patriot video aide Matt Walsh to reveal that Walsh has tapes from his employment with the Patriots. Tapes, plural. This thing will not go to bed until we know what is on those tapes. Which leads us to ...

2. I think it's inevitable. We've got to hear what Walsh has to say. If we don't, the world will root against Bill Belichick even harder next year (that's hard to imagine) because they'll be sure he's been cheating since 2000, and probably before, and wasn't punished enough by the commissioner.

If we do hear from Walsh, then the book should be closed either way. Either Belichick will get whacked more by Roger Goodell, or the Patriots will be able to say: "See? We really didn't gain an edge taping Super Bowl foes illegally.'' And we can be done with it.

I've said this from the beginning: If an edge was gained in any of the three three-point New England Super Bowl wins, that puts this story on a different level. That's why we must chase every lead to discover if any evidence exists that any of those Super Bowls were compromised. And I don't care what any pooh-poohing coach will say. In my opinion, if a team tapes a walkthrough the day before a Super Bowl, and knows which plays the opposition runs at that walkthrough, it's an advantage. Potentially a big advantage.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how a Senator butting into NFL's business because he is a disgruntled Eagles fan is a good thing no matter what he uncovers.

the #1 thing that is needed right now is for the truth to come out.

If walsh is a lying sack of sh*t - let it come out

If the pats had walk through tapes - let it come out

If every other team does the same thing and the NFL knows about it - let it come out.

How can the Pats have walkthrough tapes if Walsh has them?

exactly ... Peter King is too freaking dumb to see that.

i love that argument, as if a guy whose job it is to edit video can't copy a tape in 10 minutes.

I don't see any problem here in what King said.

Of course, Reiss article came out on Sunday, and this is King's Monday column.

Which means he missed the real story.

Peter seems like a milk and cookies get to bed early type of guy.

I agree with Peter about how the truth needs to come out...I think it basically did, and even if it does its not gonna change the minds of Pats haters. They are always gonna believe what they want to make themselves feel better. I do find it interesting however that Mr. King is SOOO intent and focused to getting to the bottom of the cheating, yet fails to mention all of the other allegations of cheating in the NFL. It seems to me, if he was a fair and unbiased individual he would want all allegations to be investigated.

I also enjoy the part where he says he doesnt care what any "pooh poohing" coach has to say about it. wow thats interesting...arent those the people who probably have the most understanding of what happened and get the concept of it all and put it into perspective. I mean how is "pooh pooh." And who says "pooh pooh"? I guess he thinks hell get more insightful information from "unnamed anonymous sources" as the rest of the media does as well. I guess if theres no fictious stories about the Pats, SI wont sell anymore??

Can we elevate this discussion please? Arlen Specter butting in has NOTHING to do with him being an Eagles fan. NOTHING!!!
Comcast the cable company is a MAJOR political contributor to Arlen Specter's "fundraising". Comcast is a big snit with the NFL over their cable channel the NFL Network. Busting the balls of Roger Goodell and the NFL on behalf of Comcast is what this is all about.

I think it is a combination, Eagles fans and Pitt Fans in Penn all will look at this guy to anoint his successor.. while comcast will pay big bucks.

Lattes..... King is all about the Lattes.

I thought he switched to green tea?

I e-mailed him the link to the Globe article last night. I actually did some of his work for him, and he actually ignored it, or already had the article written and thought it was too much work to put some more work into it.

It didn't take long. From his Monday Morning QB:

He supports a completely frivolous lawsuit if some more truth on an ultimately insignificant matter come out? My god, it's like Peter King is constantly trying to set a record for biggest douche bag ever.

If Peter King or any reporter wants the truth - why do I not see them calling for a league wide investigation into all teams to ensure no illegal signal stealing by anyone?

I still think Peter King is decent on the spectrum of Easterbrooks and Tomases. He is saying what many fans here are saying - hear what Walsh has to offer and put this to bed. And King's referring to what Specter has to say as "ranting" does not imply Specter's thoughts are worth anything.

He is wrong that this will stop Belichick hating or the questioning of accomplishments. The media has painted him the villain, and fans of other teams will cling to this cheating angle until stars burn out. Logic and facts have nothing to do with this media storm, so I suspect Reiss's well-written interview will continually be twisted to fit the villain role.

In the non-Pats world's view, Belichick is less than personable and has had personal differences with Mangini and Parcells, therefore it is easy to accept that this videotaping violation makes him a cheater because how else can you explain the team following him to victory? It is ridiculous, but the only way it goes away is if this team ceases to win. Even then we as fans will endure a season of "Ding, dong, the witch is dead" from the idiot fans of other teams.

King is a New Englander and a Pats fan (that was pretty evident on his Inside the NFL appearances before this year), and I think much of his initial reaction was the same as fans here - shock and outrage and a strong dislike for the Pats organization not providing any explanation. He just put it in print, which offended everybody that was not venting in that direction. He backed off that talk significantly after the NFL dropped the hammer, stating only this was likely not going away (a shocker as far as insight goes, but true in any event) and commenting on the other Spygate stories. He is wrong that Walsh will produce anything at all, and wrong again that this goes away even if those tapes contain Walsh's acting in "gay porn", as suggested in another thread, and nothing implicating the team.

If the media ends up with nothing on the Pats (and I believe nothing will show up adding to this mess), I say the organization refuses to grant the national media credentials to press conferences and caters to local media that has provided favorable and objective stories and not tried to put them on scandal sheets with biased portrayals of facts. Nothing in the First Amendment says you have to grant the media interviews, so give those to the folks who have actually attempted to provide objective media reports rather than sensationalist stories. And I say let the villain stories continue next season by beating all the other teams painted as wearing white hats in the duel.

I think King was ok, but then Adam Schefter comes along, and blows King out of the water.. King cant stand Schefter because he feels he is spoonfed info from the NFL
