Week 17 NFL Games

Carolina completes a huge play to Williams who is then striped at about Atlantas 10 yard line, recovered by the Falcons. Carolina imploding at several positions today.

Pitt really wants that 6 seed.

I don't think I can stomach a Pats elimination to Pitt, hopefully that scenario doesn't come to fruition.

The Steeler's are Brady's ****.

9-2 (including 2-0 against in AFC Championship games)

I certainly want the Chargers or Steelers in the playoffs, they would pose much more of a threat (especially the Chargers) to the Broncos than the Ravens or Dolphins.

Wow, huge run ruined by a huge fumble by D Williams of Panthers. Ouch.

That requires all the 8-7 teams lose, and that's not looking promising at the moment.

And Matt Ryan throws a pick 6. Clutch.

Sheldon Richardson TD. Lol

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Nantz just said Dierdorf is only retiring after the divisonal playoffs...

Forget the Super Bowl losers curse... how about the Super Bowl WINNERs curse in the last few years?

2005 - Pats - last SB champ to win a playoff game the following year. Lost @ Denver in Divisional playoff

2006 - Steelers - missed playoffs
2007 - Colts - one and done
2008 - Giants - one and done
2009 - Steelers - missed playoffs
2010 - Saints one and done vs a 7-9 Seahawks team
2011 - Packers - one and done against the....
2012 - Giants - missed playoffs
2013 - Ravens - likely to miss playoffs

Sixteen possible scenarios (excluding ties) between the four AFC teams going for the number six seed:

Miami Wins, Baltimore Wins, San Diego Wins, Pittsburgh Wins = Dolphins
Miami Wins, Baltimore Wins, San Diego Wins, Pittsburgh Loss = Dolphins
Miami Wins, Baltimore Wins, San Diego Loss, Pittsburgh Wins = Ravens

Thanks for posting this. I'd like to see the Chargers get in.

Best early game is Baltimore at Cincinnati; it's the only one of the eight early games with both teams in contention for a playoff spot or improving their playoff seeding. All the late games have some type of playoff implications.

Early Games with playoff implications

  • Baltimore at Cincinnati
  • NY Jets at Miami
  • Jacksonville at Indianapolis
  • Cleveland at Pittsburgh
  • Carolina at Atlanta

Early Games with no playoff implications

  • Houston at Tennessee
  • Detroit at Minnesota
  • Washington at NY Giants

Late Games - AFC

  • Buffalo at New England
  • Denver at Oakland
  • Kansas City at San Diego

Late Games - NFC

  • Green Bay at Chicago
  • San Francisco at Arizona
  • St. Louis at Seattle
  • Tampa Bay at New Orleans

Sunday Night - NFC

  • Philadelphia at Dallas

Fixed

Pretty amazing that only 3 games have no playoff implications

Not sure if SMY has sources or is just speculating here:

CLE could be parting ways w Chudzinski after just one yr - not leader they'd hoped...GM Lombardi would have eye on NE's McDaniels as new HC

Well, it's a lot easier to take when you've won the Lombardi. I'll take a one and done next year to win this SB.

Me too.

Kind of amazing that the 2004-05 Pats were the last Super Bowl champion to win a playoff game the following season. Guess that's parity....

Baltimore looks done. Cincinnati is killing Flacco.

Cam Newton throwing everything high, doing his best to hand the division and bye week to New Orleans.

I never got the Raven love going into last week's game. They had a soft part of their schedule where they barely beat several bad teams and everyone were talking about them going on a Super Bowl run.

In reality they are an average to below average team with a good defense and a horrible offense.

What will Harbaugh's excuse be today if they go on to lose this game like they look to heading towards.

It's looking like we won't play the Jets, Giants, or Ravens in the playoffs, the teams that have ended our seasons the last 6 years. :)

GOtta win today. If they don't then it looks like KC and a trip to Denver on the road just to the AFC Championship game, never mind the SB...

Good way to look at it.

As SB1 says, Pats have to win today. They really should but — watching Jets-Phins, seeing how much they both suck and wondering how the Pats could have lost to both — it's a good reminder that division games are different beasts.

Ravens and Dolphins losing, just how I want it.

Get the Chargers in the playoffs so Manning can choke to them and give us homefield back, the Raiders sure as hell aren't going to help us.

Jets score, up by a TD over the Dolphins near the half.
