its a four year deal worth 25 million. im sick to my stomach. really hate to see him go.
Wow both 4:05pm posts, my bad!
And yeah, it sucks.
I'll never forget how big he was for us in those finals though and forever respect him to death.
big mistake. the celts have a window of 2-3 years here and they missed out on maggette and posey. posey was huge because he could guard lebron and he was very versatile. after pierce, who is gonna guard the 6'7 swingman?
they should have sucked up the luxury tax. they had no problem paying vin baker, scalabrene.
I hope they have someone in mind next year to bring in as a solid free agent.
Wow. That really really sucks to lose Posey. I cant say I didn't see this coming. I didn't expect him to be back so I'm not shocked. Hornets got a real good player.
ill tell you what they have in mind. its labron james in 2010.
And the Hornets just catapulted to championship contenders in the West.
why would lebron come to boston?
every team wants him.
of the 3 which are signed through 2010?
your kidding right? good one
I wouldn't say they catapulted. Posey is a role player not a superstar. They were already really good and they got quite better with a guy like Posey.
I am serious. If and when he did come who would be here? KG and Pierce?
Dam....pissed that my man Posey is gone..
why wouldnt lebron want to play with the green? kg and pp will still be on the team and the celtics will have the cap room. ray allen is gone in two years. every team wants lebron but every team cant fit his contract under the cap.
Yawn; yet another guy wins a championship and takes the money instead of the home town discount to stick around to win another championship. Whatever floats your boat Posey. Thanks for helping us win one this year and enjoy the view from here next year.
Props to World Series MVP Mike Lowell for NOT doing that and staying with the Red Sox instead of holding out for the highest bidder................
it all sounds great. but does he really want to sign a long term to only play with pp and kg for what will most likely be two good years and then they'll start their decline on their careers if they don't do so sooner.
hey i'd love to have lebron here, but you're dreaming.
i wouldn't doubt seeing in LA or NY... bigtime markets. i can't see him signing a long term deal with an old club.
What home town discount? Posey was with the team for ONE YEAR genius, why would he take a 'home town' discount, plus he took a huge pay cut to come here in the first place. You might have also missed it, but he was a vital part of a recent Celtics championship.
I just flagged that above quoted post for being moronic.
lol your not making any sense. using your logic why would lebron want to play in newyork with that pathetic franchise. the celtics have a legit shot at signing him. he will have a good shot at a title with the green while pp and kg are there.
New York might not be so pathetic in 2010.
based on what?
lol. he will have to sign a one or two year deal to come here. Because i don't see him coming here long term when pp and kg are on the tail end of their careers. i don't think he's sign a 1 or 2 year deal. i think he's going to a long term max deal to another team. New York might clear out alot of salary by then if they ever get smart
lol you dont see it but i do. i think danny ainge does to. he wont have to sign a one or two year deal. thats just pure speculation on your part. when lebron comes up for free agency the celtics will have a top level salary slot available to land lebron or another big name free agent. thats a fact. he would be more likely to get a long term deal because like you said pp and kg will be around for two or three after lebron would sign. thats also speculation. kg or pp might re up and have a reduced role. to say the celtics dont have a chance to land him is just silly.
Based on it's going to be 2010. In 2006 would you have predicted that the Celtics would be a pathetic team in 2007-2008? You probably would have. And how wrong you would have been.
i guess . anything can happen this is true. but you can say that about every team in the league
I didn't say they didn't have a chance. Money wise they will have a chance, but I think it's highly unlikely he will sign in Boston.
Sure I'd love him to but I don't see it happening. If KG and PP were in their prime sure, but not 2 year from now.
i guess we have to agree to disagree. i think boston has a excellnet chance of getting him. i see it happening.

Why would he take a discount? Oh gee, I don't know, because he actually LIKES playing here and LIKES his team mates and wants to win another championship you clown, just like Mike Lowell did, guess you just glossed over that part of my post.
Missed it? Nope, I saw two of the Laker games in person, including game six, so I didn't miss anything.
Looks like you missed something today; you forgot to take your anti douchebag pills.
And for the record, NBA GM's today are saying "Four years for how much?" He'd better score more than 7 points per game. Don't piss your pants, the Celtics will carry on without MVPosey ok sh!tstain?
i loved posey and I'm sad to see him go. but that doesnt mean i think the celtics should have given him a four year deal. that's just to risky for a player his age and reduces the teams salary flexibility. lets wait and see what the team looks like in november.
which is the last bigtime free agent to sign with the celts prior to the kg and ray allen trade?
Boston hasn't been a distination players want to come for a while.
Once it was clear Posey was entertaining 4 year offers I pretty much knew he'd not be back...
the Celts would pay him handsomely for 2 years - but they want the flexibility to sign a big name in 2 years...
I predict 2 years from now when that happens and people realize it would not be happening with Posey's remaining $12.5 million on the books, no one will be complaining
youve got to be kidding me. things have changed in case you havent noticed.
You can pull yourself out from under that rock now. The Celtics have won #17 all is well in Boston. Since the Boston Celtics are Word Champions, the city is no longer racist. Actually, the one organization in Boston with a history of racism is the Boston Red Sox, and how have they done in free agency. The New England Patriots did not draw any big name free agents when they were losing. Heck, I remember an All Pro's brother being drafted by the Pats and he refused to play here. Bottom line, its about winning.
