WEEI: Callahan leaving D&C for Big Show? (Mod Edit) Political Flame

I was driving in listening to WEEI and they mentioned that Callahan is going to the big show but didn't give any other details..

Anyone hear more about this?

God I hope not... no doubt he'd bring his politics to it, and that's exactly why I avoid the morning show like the plague.

And before I start anything, I'm not saying I agree or disagree with his politics, I just don't care when I'm looking for sports talk.

My god I hope this is a joke (I heard them referencing it on EEI as well, but thought they may be joking). Callahan would not fit on the Big Show at all. For starters, Callahan would rather talk politics than sports, and that might fly on the morning show, but that'll never work for the afternoon show.

Asides from that, Callahan, like Dennis, doesn't offer any insight into any sport and speaks in such generalities - he can't grasp the finer points of sports, so he's limited to the role of host, which Big O does, and does much better.

It was a bit. They have Jenna Jameson as a sideline reporter too. Like that is going to happen.

They are playing on Callahan's recent "ball washing" of the Patriots and how it fits better with the ball washing on the Big Show than the cynical D&C Show.

Like them or hate them, Dennis and Callahan get ratings. No way are they going to break them up and move Callahan to a panel show like the Big Show.

Same here. I'd love it if they were replaced though. I only listen to them b/c there's no other options.

It sounds like Gerry Callahan is going to be making an appearance on the Big Show this afternoon, at least that’s what was stated a number of times on the WEEI morning show today, hosted by Butch Stearns and Greg ****erson. John Dennis is undergoing surgery this morning, and apparently will be out to at least start next week. At the end of the morning show, ****erson said that Callahan would be back in the morning on Monday.

Wow, I haven't thought much of WEEI since I switched to listening to 98.5 except for interviews with Brady, BB and Tito

I really do not miss all the right wing political garbage mixed in with the sports talk at all. If I wanted to listen to that crap, I would tune in to the asshats like Limbaugh and Beck for that.

It's much more fun when they do it ... especially when it's Boston politics and/or about Mumble Menino. Love them or hate them they do great interviews, they ask the tough quuestions that some other ball washers don't ask. I like when they especially interview Tom Brady.

I'm finding myself listening to Felger & Mazz more now, even though I can't stand Mazz and Felger is Felger. They just seem to be on topic more often, have less commercials, and the signal is better.

I'm intolerant of all political viewpoints on SPORTS talk radio. Honestly, are D&C - or any other sports commentator - educated & informed enough to talk politics with authority? I highly doubt it. They are paid to talk sports, and they can't even do that well.

Also can't stand D&C's radio schtick. Maybe they're charming fellows when they're not working (though I doubt it), but on the box I find them mean-spirited, smug and nasty — and not tremendously knowledgeable about sports.

D&C is pure, unadulterated garbage. The worst part is when they call themselves "conservatives" yet likely think John Locke is a porn star and Rousseau is a type of cheese. As a libertarian, I find them deeply offensive.

I'm still suprised that T&R hasn't caught on more on the sports hub. While I think it sucks that they force comedians to talk sports, they still squeeze enough humor into the show for it to be good.

Show against show, EEI predominantly is targeted at the troglodytes, 98.5 seems to be for the (relatively) more intelligent listeners.
