They can't blame Bush, BUT THEY WILL.

    Closing Gitmo:
Spain, Germany, Canada etc, all blubber about "Terrible Gitmo" then when asked if they will accept some of the prisoners when they are released they all say "NO" they say they are concerned with their country's Safety--

I thought these prisoners were all "poor little peaceful victims" of the Horrible Bush America, they are "Muslim Angels" why should Canada/Spain be concerned for their country's security?

GITMO IS ONE OF THE FINEST WELL RUN PRISONS IN THE WORLD.
THE ONE AND ONLY REASON THE DEMOCRATS, COUNTRY'S THAT HATE US AND THE REST OF THE LEFT WING LOONS WANT IT CLOSED IS BECAUSE THE HATED BUSH OPENED IT.

    Dear President Barry Obama:
Close Gitmo as you said you would, transfer the prisoners to the Super Max's in Colorado, show the bastards what a Real Prison is, they now live in a Bush Country Club.
    Yours Truly

The only people that will be upset that Gitmo isn't closing will be Jeanne Garafool & Phil Donahue, nobody else cares it was Bush they were really after, not Gitmo.

You see, Obama inherited Bush's problem but Bush was never supposed to say--in light of 9/11--that he had inherited Clinton's problem.

    Got it?

Laura had to go down to Wal Mart and buy some knives and forks and the Oval Office had to be Fumigated.

Yeah, remember the World Trade Towers were bombed first in 1993? There were many other attacks against us and our interests, in Africa, Saudi Arabia, our destroyer _USS Cole_ in the Gulf of Aden.

During the Clinton Administration we had Osama bin Laden in the crosshairs dozens of times. Read Lawrence Wright's The Looming Tower. It admits this, though Wright certainly is no Republican.

Our response? To treat it like a law enforcement problem. Send a bevy of cruise missiles and ignore the problem. Esp. useful was to do it on an aspirin factory in Kenya and an Al Qaeda base in Afghanistan on the day the girl with the stained dress was testifying.

You know, what Democrats accused Republicans of, "wagging the dog." Hollywood even made a movie about it.

Why do I have to connect the dots for you, PressCoverage? Were you in high school in the 1990s and weren't paying attention to the news, or something?

They never want to talk about "WTC 1993" they would rather discuss the day President Bush fell off his bike.

Harry Boy, I think liberals are pretty much done with blaming Bush. Yeah, if you ask who is responsible for the recession or who started the Iraq War, we'll talk about Bush, but unlike Republicans who blamed Clinton for 9/11 and Carter(!) and Clinton for economic troubles, Democrats aren't like that. We tend to be overall more foreward look than Republicans.

The many posts here referencing Bush refute that. So does obama's refusal to accept any responsibility for anything. I know he isn't done with Bush; in fact things are going so badly that blaming Bush is all that obama has right now and likely all the Democrats running in 2010 will have.

I never blamed Bush for 9/11.

Terrorism will happen no matter what - - that's the fundamental truth.

Anyone who believes terrorism can be "eradicated" only need look at Israel. The Israelis are the foremost experts in the world on this and they don't screw around. They still get hit.

I don't blame Bush for 9/11. I blame Bush for his hysterical REACTION to 9/11. He did EXACTLY what the terrorists wanted him to do.

As long as you also blame Congress for authorizing the war then it's all good.

Kerry, Gore, Kennedy, The Clintons all publicly said "Saddam Has To Go"

Many back stabbing Bush Hating Democrats at the time went even further saying "Under Saddam Iraq Was A Threat To Humanity"

BUSH TOOK CARE OF IT but it went all wrong, when Bush saw that you can't be Helpful or Good to those friggin people he should have pulled every American out and let the bastards slaughter each other.

Iraq was the best thing that ever happened for the democrats, Iraq was just what the Democrats were looking for to Crucify, Humiliate and Destroy the Moron that made fools out of them Twice at the Polls.

There's no need to be condescending. I'm well aware of all of that, it's just that your original post was rather vague as to what "problem" you were alluding to.

So then, let me ask you, you believe this all originated under Clinton then? He didn't inherit the problem from papa Bush? You're aware of history before the WTC bombing, yes?

The point isn't who it originated under. The point is, it's not simply Bush's fault, as Democrats and liberals widely proclaim. The point is, that Bush happened to be in office when 9/11 happened, but it didn't happen because of him.

Watch a video called The Power of Nightmares for a pretty good explanation of the origins of terrorism as we know it, and the neoconservative movement.

I'm fairly well-read on the subject of the origins of terrorism, but I will look for the video.

But for certain posters to continue to sit here, all these years later, and still attempt to pin specific pre-9/11 failure on goofy Bill Clinton is the definition of partisan hackery. Clinton did not ignore his Presidential Daily Briefing for months before the event, while simultaneously putting Gore and Cohen in direct control of terror emergency protocol (as Boy King did with Cheney and Rummie). The Clinton Administration, for all it's failure regarding UBL, stressed the threat of AQ as a top priority during the transfer of power to Bush. It went ignored. The inaction and plain incompetence of Condi Rice in the lead-up to 9/11 trumps any vague failings of Clinton's CIA and efforts to "get bin Laden" in Sudan.

all the circle jerkerz who posted agreement to this op-ed, be mindful that using the same argument, you will not be able to award any possible victory of said wars, and possible recovery of the economy to your beloved W.

Israel could have shown America how to have prevented 9/11 so could China, Russia, N Korea and even that little scummy sh!t hole Cuba, PROFILING at Airports would have been a great start (we know who our enemy is and we know what he looks like)

But of course we don't want to offend the people that are trying to kill us.

LIVE WITH IT AND WATCH OUT.
