"Texans" is an incredibly annoying and stupid name for a football team, I would hope that even Houston fans would agree with this. Could you imagine if the trend caught on? "The Carolina North Carolinians take on the Kansas City Missourians today; while the New York New Yorkers meet the Washington District of Columbians." It's idiocy.

Fortunately there is a perfectly good name for a Houston team to use until they come to their senses and choose a legitimate one, I therefore respectfully request that we all call them the Oilers for the time being.

Yes, I realize that, but the Titans have a legitimate name, unless as it seems you'd prefer to call them the Tennessee Tennesseeans.

I take it you are not a big "Montreal Canadiens" or "Vancouver Canucks" fan, then. :)

LOL, good point on the Canadiens, but at least it's old school, and spelled funny. But Canucks is fine, it's a nickname. I'd be okay with New Orleans Cajuns, ..., can't think of any others (San Francisco Teabaggers?).

I agree even though it's two completely different orgs. I thought "Texans" was gay from day one. I still do. And what about those helmets? Atrocious.

Dallas Cowboys used to be called the Texans from 1960-1962. You would think Houston would have learned this mistake before reusing this name. Go New England Bostonians!!!!

Speaking of names we call the Patriots the Pats.

So, what abbreviation should we use for the Titans?

I think that they had a fans "poll' on naming the team. I think that Texans was the overwhelming choice of the fans because they are from Texas.

I think that's how it went but I'm not sure.

The thing about our team name, the Texans, is that Texas has an actual identity unlike the other 49 states in the union. When people think Texas, they think greatness. If you look around the NFL, you will understand why. Texas produces the greatest football talent and general athletic talent in the USA.

So the moniker Texans is a good one for a team that wants to portray themselves as great and above everyone else. Of course no other state can pull off calling a team by the name of its citizenry, only Texas can do it because Texas is what is is, the best state in the USA by far. Plus our state name is pretty short.

Also, Bud Adams owns the Oilers name, we didn't get the same deal as the Browns. And sure there was a vote for the team name, but since when does fan vote matter?

I've had women tell me that Texans wear obnoxiously large belt buckles to compensate for abnormally small...well, you certainly know.

The name Texans is steeped in history. One of the early AFL teams was called the Dallas Texans, IIRC.

The Oilers is a stupid name. Fortunately, the Titans dropped it. Can you imagine if names like the OILERS caught on? What would have been next? The Pennsylvania COALERS? The California NATURAL GASSERS? Vermont MARBLERS? Kentucky LIMESTONERS? Louisiana SALTERS? Montana COPPERERS?

So she's not a proponent of the saying "everything's bigger in Texas" I assume.

I hope y'all know I'm just giving y'all a hard time, somewhat anyways. I can't possibly come here pumping up my team so I might as well stick up for the team name.

Oh, and I don't know many folks here who wear large belt buckles. That's more prevalent in the dump of a city known as Dallas.

Did they say this before or after buying you a large belt buckle? :D
