Meet Peter Shiff, dead-on correct in 2006 about the markets' impending crash ...

This montage of CNBC and Fox interviews with Peter Shiff is so utterly satisfying on a number of different levels... Including both the "fair and balanced" network, AND the exposed mentality of smug, "everything-is-fine, nothing-to-see-here" unbridled capitalist pundits... It just goes on and on, and gets better and better towards the end...

Satisfying, that is, if not so ultimately depressing...

Note, especially, the jerkov at the 3:53 mark...

Didn't watch the video since it must be about Chris Dodd and Barney Frank telling us how everything is "working as planned" with their Community Reinvestment Act scheme to force banks, under penalty of $100 million fines, to give mortgages to people who had no credit, no work history, and no means to pay back those mortgages. "Social engineering" at its... abysmal worst.

Jimmy Cahter, Billy "First Black President" Clinton, singing praises to their "enlightened" plan to give away hundreds of billions to people who hadn't the first clue on how to pay it back, through the utterly failed CRA???

That's the truth and the ONLY TRUTH about this financial meltdown. The beginning and the end of it. Period. Anything else is shuck and jive smoke and mirrors. And people are gonna find out!! They're finding out right now, even as we speak.

You're swiftly reaching the Harry Boy, no-one-listens-to-you, stratosphere...

The CRA is not the end-all be-all... and far from the leading cause... that was proven to you weeks ago when you went on insane rants and thread hijacks about it back then... But isn't that just like a locked in zealot to never acknowledge when your assertion has been shown to be completely illogical...

Anyhow, way to disqualify yourself right off the bat by admitting you didn't have the courage to actually watch the video in the first place... Just hit the eject button and bail out... This thread has started off as a disaster for you, and you're way over your head once again...

Did someone utter CRA? Could it have been Fog. Well Mis Flex researched it and found this. THe CRA has nothing to do with the investment banks that are in trouble. It deals with LOCAL banks.

Subprime scapegoats - The Boston Globe

Community Reinvestment Act had nothing to do with subprime crisis - BusinessWeek

Media Matters - Media conservatives baselessly blame Community Reinvestment Act for foreclosure spike

    FFIEC Community Reinvestment Act

    FRB: Community Reinvestment Act

    OCC: CRA Information

Office of Thrift Supervision - CRA

the CRA has been around since 1977, so it's just now causing a problem? greedy boys are looking for a scapegoat.

tell your pals to educate themselves

A GLOBAL financial crisis that began with unsustainable loans to people with bad credit, it was only a matter of time before apologists for Wall Street excesses would try to pin the blame on the poor - and on government policies meant to help them.

Sure enough, the Community Reinvestment Act has emerged in recent weeks as a favorite target of conservatives and others who oppose any government intervention in the market, for it requires banks to lend in neighborhoods they might otherwise avoid.

And yet the Community Reinvestment Act has nothing whatsoever to do with the subprime mess.

The law applies specifically to commercial banks, which in recent months have been the least volatile part of the financial-services industry. The measure was passed in 1977 to combat redlining, the practice of banks refusing to write mortgages in poor neighborhoods - even when they were taking deposits from residents of those neighborhoods.

t Community Reinvestment Act requirements, banks do make loans to low-income homebuyers - often in concert with community groups that provide financial advice and other crucial training. While banks at first had to be "dragged into participating," said Tom Callahan, executive director of the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance, loans made under the auspices of the reinvestment law have performed remarkably well.

Shiff's stock is the only one that has gone up recently. I want him to be my financial advisor! (Just as soon as my trial is over for the murder of my last financial advisor)

Excellent post... But this was largely all pointed out to Father False Prophet several weeks ago... He then engaged in his tried and true tactic of ignoring when his sermon gets debunked, waits a couple weeks, and trots it out again for the unsuspecting...

The man doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. He's blinded by partisan hatred and a warped view of God's message that's even rejected by mainstream Christianity.

    :scared: --------------

I have never in my life ever seen anybody so in love with his own opinions as the PressBoy.

You are one ... piece of work.

In any case, keep denying that the day of reckoning is on its way for those who totally trashed the U.S. economy through their force-feeding us the CRA. Keep up your travels down that ol' Egyptian river, da Nile.

    :D

    Great points!
Your rhetoric is impossible to resist!
Who could not see how you've clearly refuted Peter Schiff's false prophesies?

If this is any indication of how far off the experts are at any moment in time, then the near term future is very scary indeed. They are only grudingly accepting that a recession has started, so this must really mean that a severe depression is imminent.
