I propose a global ban of the c-word, and all discussions of it.

"But the following week, after the Patriots lost at Indianapolis in the AFC title game, Belichick brushed past Colts' quarterback Peyton Manning."

Hey, the Patriots being evil is a good storyline. We all know it's BS, but when an actor plays a villan, it doesn't make the actor evil. From the media's point of view, the Pats are just characters in a storyline made to sell papers and get visits to their sites. From the media's point of view, everyone's a character like that. Half the time I think these bozos are told which angle to go with by their editors. It's a good story for them, but we know the real story is the Pats at 9-0 and playing better football than perhaps anyone we've ever seen.

It's not the storyline that bothers me; it's the lies used to support it.

I can understand the Patriots as villains, because everybody who isn't a fan of a dominating team SHOULD hate them, but the Colts are the easy #2 in the league in terms of un-likability. I have not any non-Colts fan who considers the Colts to be "good".

This article is garbage. Let me explain why:

More like bumped him on the way by. He did not shove out of anger like this sentence implies.

    This makes him classless? How?

First sports team in the history of sports to celebrate a win. Give me an effing break.

This quote is in reference to the Patriots imitating Shawne Merriman's "Lights out" sack dance. Lesson: Take all the sterioids you want, but don't mock another man's sack dance.

Manning said Belichick talked to him. It just wasn't on the field. Good God, can class only happen in front of a camera?

The Patriots were clearly getting a controversial player for the sake of getting a controversial player. No way were they getting a deal on a player where they knew something that nobody else did. /sarcasm

Actually, the Patriots are doing what they always do. Say it on the field. They would have said the same stuff about Shula then that they do now.

Right. Can you name me the last Patriot to get arrested?

I'd have to say Kenyatta Jones, and he was immediately cut.

The biggest thing that gets me about all of this is that the pats were never the ones to portray themselves as "self-righteous." The media were the ones who made them out to be these "goody-goodies" not the other way around.

They have always maintained that they have their flaws just like any other person. Where things get mixed up is when a Patriot player/coach have expressed their personal view about such-and-such a topic. That doesn't mean that the team as a whole feels this way as it only pertains to the person who said it.

The other part that absolutely blows my mind is how scrutinzed our beloved Pats have become even though they walk a straight line where it matters the most, society.

How many players and/or coaches (or their families) have gotten in trouble with the law? How many Patriots have gotten into trouble with the law? A little perspective is needed but with the mob mentality preavailing that perspective is a long way off especially since our Patriots don't point fingers in an effort to distract from the accusations they are receiving.

Baugher on Aug. 30th 07. I don't think that was the context in that article though. Honestly, who cares if somebody got arrested, unless it happened on the field. That has nothing to do with the game. These pundits need to get a life.

He forgot to include that Peyton Manning has stated publically that BB called him before the Superbowl and told him good luck and he hopes he (Manning) wins.

He was an ex-Patriot when the arrest happened. If you recall, he got in an altercation with his dad that was brought on by alcohol and him being cut from the team.

Riding home today I put the radio on FOX sports radio(the only sports station in my area) the first thing that moron Chris Myers started saying downing Belichick for being classless. The jealousy is just getting ridiculas(when did a NFL HC have to be classy Halas and Parcells and many others weren't). I turned off as quickly as possible.

Well, he got one main point right...

"The Patriots, like the Yankees of the '90s, are easy to dislike mainly because they are so damn good."

Most hatred comes from the fact the team does so well with drafting and getting great players for cheap. And it freakin' works wonders. The rest of the hate doesn't matter, because it's built off of what the media says, and not what is necessarily full of truth...

Our media is torpedoing our whole society.

This whole crucification of BB because he isnt the most social, most camera ready man in the buisness is absurd and mean. Because people feel like they dont know BB they just paint these broad stroke pictures of him. First he was a straight and narrow genius, and now suddenly he is the master of evil.

This is the same mentality that allows kids who dont quite fit in to get picked on in school.
