Here are two who should be admired 1. Lee Marvin (RIP) Marvin was in the US Marines, earned a purple heart as he was wounded (bullet hit him in the arse and severed his sciatic nerve) in the battle of Saipan. He is actually buried in Arlington National Cemetary. 2. Charles Durning Durning served as a soldier in World War II, during which he was awarded a Silver Star and three Purple Heart medals. As a 21-year-old infantryman in the U.S. Army, he was part of the first wave of men to land on Omaha Beach as a member of the 1st Infantry Division on D Day in the Normandy Invasion. One of his injuries took place in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was one of the few survivors of the infamous MalmÃƒÂ©dy massacre on American POWs.
