Some guy found this video in his attic - has no idea how it got there.

Just a remarkable 20 minute video from the sidelines - -no opponents defensive coaching signals either!

Now this brings back some memories - - God bless you John Stephens wherever you are! And Grogan's neckroll.....Plus the local flavah in the stands.

There were not many great moments that year

1990 was tough to be a Pats fan

    Good footage,horrible team

Those guys that complain in every gameday thread of how horrible this years team plays, were probably not even a fragment of a thought in their parents minds in 1990

let me just say...I hate to talk about the "old days" because a lot of members here don't have the years under their belts BUT...THAT was what Sullivan was like, noise wise...did you see that end zone shot at the end?? I was there every Sunday, screaming myself hoarse with all the other rowdies...I only wish we had 1/10th the decibels today that we generated back then

Plenty of diamonds in the rough that season. John Stephens being one of them. Those teams played hard at home. Poor coaching and terrible play calling was their demise.

I really enjoyed those teams back in the day. That stadium was the best. No frills. Just football and a drunk and rowdy crowd that pulled for the team.

Watching the video now. The girl in the Hartford Whalers shirt and sign for the "Grogan's Medicare Fund" is the best!!!

There are so many great things about that video. Everything was simple and clean, no corporate logos on the uniforms or the stadium walls. The fans were rowdy and having a good time (all the people screaming and cheering these days would be shushed by the pink hats). It was just a simpler time for the NFL.

I know things are better nowdays (especially on the field at Gillette), but sometimes I miss the late 80's early 90's NFL of my childhood/teen years.

Actually, it was called Foxboro Stadium by then. I don't miss those crowds at all. Fights breaking out every few minutes, people smoking cigarettes, women getting harassed by drunks ... That stadium environment was at its best a few years later after Kraft bought the team. It brought some civility but the place was still packed and rockin'.

VERY VERY LOUD! That's what that stadium has that is different from the new one. I don't know if its acoustic design or what, but it's pretty remarkable the noise those guys are making. Considering that the Pats went 1-15 that season, you've gotta admit fans back then were considerably less spoiled than the Pats current generation of fans. BB has brought over 10 division titles to the Pats. Not winning the AFCE or making the playoffs is unthinkable these days. Nothing less than a Superbowl title is the goal. I'm sure in 1990 even breaking even at .500 would have been seen as a success.

You know what else is (wonderfully) missing?

The crap, earsplitting "music" that plays from the moment the ball is whistled dead to the moment the ball is snapped.

But much preferable to watching a crap team, wouldn't you say?

It's fun seeing some of those old players in the video, but really, folks -- those were the BAD OLD DAYS.

    Disable Jersey

Post away. Folks can just "Ignore thread" if old coots reminiscing offends their sensibilities. What better purpose served than enabling folks to share memories and allow those off-planet at the time to learn about their favorite franchise's history?

And yeah, the crowds were really into the games then. No cell phone distractions, no red seat pink hats...

What was good about those losing days was I could get up on Sunday go outside and check the weather and if it was a fall nice day on a whim drive from Sudsbury thru beautiful suburban metro west to the stadium, parking free in a Foxboro neighborhood and pick up a great seat in the parking lot for face or less. I always went to Flutie games because those were always Ws, a rare commodity back then.
