    look at them now.........

Wal-Mart awards $2 billion to U.S. hourly employees

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Wal-Mart Stores Inc is awarding approximately $2 billion to its U.S. hourly employees through financial incentives, including handing out $933.6 million in bonuses on Thursday, after the world's largest retailer gained market share amid a recession.

In a memo to Wal-Mart employees obtained by Reuters, Wal-Mart CEO Mike Duke said the retailer is awarding roughly $2 billion to U.S. hourly employees, which includes $933.6 million in bonuses, $788.8 million in profit sharing and 401(k) contributions, millions of dollars in merchandise discounts, and contributions to its employee stock purchase plan.

Don't worry! Once Obama gets the unions through Walmart's doors, this type of "excessive" behaviour will stop! How dare Walmart shares profits to its employees and not give more to the government instead! There are poor unemployed people who deserve that money more!

They encourage employees to go on welfare, don't pay healcare....then corner the market and pay out bonuses to underpayed hourly, non healthcare employees.....?

then you two circle jerk, and complain about these people POSSIBLY getting a union?

The great thing about America though, is that no one HAS to work there. In fact the majority of Walmart employees are the retired, teens, or a spouse looking to earn a second paycheck for their family. Most jobs at Walmart are not for the primary breadwinner of the family.

The second great thing about America, is that you can work elsewhere - for companies that do provide healthcare.

Many lower income people shop at Walmart because of their prices are LOW. Start forcing them to provide a slew of employee benefits or get a union in there and bye bye LOW prices. This will only hurt the low income customers that depend on those LOW prices.

Your BJ remark was really unnecessary, HD. We may disagree often, but I do respect your point of view.

You could say the same thing about the brother store of Walmart - Sams Club where people go to buy in bulk and save money,Well if Sam's started to give free admission to the place and took all major credit cards and provided bags for thier items you would see the prices climb as well.

Stores need to keep things tight budget wise and steady to remain above all other competitors and make money consistently and Walmart and Sam's Club do a great job at that and its paying off a bit for thier loyal employees, nothing wrong with that.

Hold on, so a company paying bonuses out to its people on the floor instead of giving millions to ****ty CEOs is a bad thing?

I'm sure their CEO has made a lot of money. Infact the Walton family has something like 10 billionairs or something...its kinda rediculous. But giving them the credit that the subject of this thread is claiming, then looking the other way when confronted with them forcing government healthcare by lack of hours...and forcing OUT small buisnesses in the area, only to suck towns dry of revenue is really not painting the full picture here.

I'm just sayin...easy on the praise.

having said that, Walmart hasn't taken any bailout $$$...they are recording record profits during an economic downturn. Those people deserve it. Nothing wrong with bonuses at all, they are a private company and can do what they want. I'm not a stockholder or an employee of theirs.

PBS - STORE WARS: Wal-Mart Business Practices

there is a PBS doc, that you obviously missed while you have been b!tching about taxes and governemnet not working.

    Here is another one:

WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Price

do me a favor, Gerald, don't fact up on any of this stuff, and stay as misinformed as you are. It really makes you easier to control for the PTB. Keep throwing BS shots at people you don't know all the while calling them names and belitling their opinion with your baseless stance.

I'll be adding "Teleprompter" to your redundant robotic - talk as they tell you wanna be neocons, dime store philosophy. 25% and lowering.....you guys really are doing a number on your failed stance....

remember when you used to have a majority of americans who fell for the crap-sando you are serving? that what you get with a limited menu, you get customers who don't come back.

good luck. Welcome to the political forum! There are about 6 people here that you will gravitate to. You will suck their privates with dumb rubuttals with nonsensical jargon. You will end posts with emotocons, and pat each other on the back. You guys sure love you some you. You will not think about what you spew. You will repeat talking points while calling anyone who disagree with you 'sheep'....

I will always cherish people like you.

Whether one is liberal, conservative or somewhere in between, it's common knowledge that WalMart is at the bottom of the barrell as far as how they treat their employees. I'd like to see how that $2 billion breaks down on an average payout per employee.

Part of WalMart's health care program is to train their employees on how to take advantage of Medicaid. That's a fact. No company has lost more class action lawsuits by their own employees than WalMart...that's a fact.

Scummy company....why would anyone want to work there?

    BTW....I am NOT a liberal!

WalMart is not doing our economy any good. It never has. The more companies WalMart puts out of business, the less Americans make on average. The more people who shop at WalMart, the lower our GDP goes.

If we could only list all the companies that were forced out of business and salary cuts workers had to take because of that, we'd all see just how bad WalMart has been for the US economy.
