With no degree and little expertise, Wisconsin Governor’s appointee pulls in big bucks | The Raw Story

Most guys in their mid-20s would be staring down a decade of riding the bus after a couple drunk driving convictions.

That one reason why Wisconsinites aren't necessarily happy to hear that the young Brian Deschane, the son of a lobbyist for the Wisconsin Builders Association and a major Walker donor, is now earning $81,500 a year on their dime.

And lucky him: In Brian's first two months on the job, he even landed a 26 percent pay raise, according to The Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel. It's a very generous percentage too -- unlike Wisconsin teachers, who typically make about half of Deschane's salary and see their pay increase only 21 percent every 10 years.

There's an even better, more detailed story here.

No degree, little experience pay off big - JSOnline

Patronage is alive and well in Wisconsin, apparently. I'll bet this goes over big with the average Joe and Jane.

I especially like the part where Walker's recently approved law that made all the collective bargaining changes also converted 37 top agency attorneys, communications officials and legislative liaisons from civil service positions to jobs appointed by the governor.

How much you want to bet none of those 37 guys will be taking a pay cut?

Cut? I'd put money on them getting raises.

Oh, I would to but I'm not allowed to say so because I am a "leftie" and it would be partisan of me to even suggest it.

Gee a guy who worked on pubbie campaigns got a political patronage job, What a shocker.

    That never happens with dems.

And that's one of the reasons you don't vote for them, remember?

Why aren't you as enraged at Walker as you would be at a democratic governor?

Isn't that just a bit hypocritical of you?

Do you think it's that or do you think it's because his father and his father's corporation donated $121,652 to Walker's campaign?

I don't vote for dems/progressives because they want to spend too much money. Walker is cutting the bottom line. That is good for the public overall, as to individual appt who cares.

If he were paying off the unions and continuing unsustainable growth in government spending you wouldn't care about this 'sin' either.

Walker could be a serial child rapist murderer and 13 would be OK with it because he has an R before his name.

As long as the bottom line looks good.

!3...you need to check yourself, here. It's corruption bred from corporate nepotism and trading favors. Those are bad things. The so-called bottom line you and other corporate stooges keep parroting means nothing if it is addressed illegally or unethically...or maybe for you and yours it's OK?

We don't know whether or not Walker was aware of this appointment or who the guy is.

Lots of positions are appointed when a new administration goes into office. People are appointed in these position based on knowing other people. People from Parties appoint people who support the party. This is no different than what happens in every state and municipality across the country. And of course on a grand scale in the Federal govt.

Do you think people are gonna appoint political opponents?

The unions are spending big $$$$ to go after Walker as they did in NJ with Christie and as they will with Kasich or anyone else who challenges the status quo of the government workers and all the money they donate to democrats.

let me get this straight....you believe that this 2x DUI son of a guy who gave 100k to the governor was hired on accident? Walker appointed this guy with no knowledge of his father or past crimes of operating a vehicle while under the influence?

Then given a raise by a governor you claim is wiping out waste and spending?

    Do I have that right?

Um, yeah, we're pretty sure he was, 13.

    Follow the trail.

Keith Gilkes was Walker's campaign manager. Deschane's father "might have reminded" him that his son needed a job.

Keith Gilkes is now Walker's chief of staff.

Gilkes recommended Deschane for an interview even tho his name was not on the list of qualified job applicants.

Gilkes then interviews Deschane fora state job. This is confirmed by the governor's office.

Deschane, with his lack of a college degree, his 2 DWI convictions and his unimpressive resume is then hired by Gilkes.

    Duh.

And yet you thought an ad attacking that judge was worthy of a thread -- even though all the excuses and caveats you offer here could be applied just as easily in that situation

Dems do something -- 13 is outraged
pubbies do something -- 13 hems and haws, explains how it might not be what it seems, justifies it as the same thing the dems do, etc.

I'm looking forward to you actually criticizing a pubbie sometime. Curious to see what it will take.

Nothing like a good dose of radiation and a couple of dui's to lift one's spirits.
