As a key defensive component of the Patriots dynasty, the only thing Mike Vrabel lacks to make a great case for the HOF are post season individual awards. IMO, he is equal to or more deserving than Richard Seymour at this point.

in the end i think it will be itneresting how many of these patriots make the HOF and if they win another SB will that increase the odds on more Pats making it?

Vrabel has zero shot at the HOF. Only Brady, Belichick, Moss, Seau, Adam V, maybe Ty Law, maybe Seymour ('though, suddenly, not at this rate), and dominant guys like Mankins/Wilfork it's way too early to tell. Far fewer than some might expect.

While being an excellent player who has skills and intelligence, Vrabes would be the first to acknowledge that playing for the Pats does not often result in an HOF selection. Given the team concept, there are only a few positions that could stand out with the right player, and those are usually skill positions. Seymour's play has been recognized as peerless; however, it will be interesting to see whether that results in a HOF selection.

If you don't make a bunch of Pro Bowls, you don't have much of a shot at the HOF.

Vrabel actually has a better chance of making it as a coach than he does of making it as a player, and his coaching career hasn't even started yet.

If you get a chance to visit Canton and the HOF, one thing becomes very clear. The inductees have many, many championships among them and it helps when being consider for induction. there are those that have never won one like Marino and Kelly but most have won several championships. Many members of the great Packer teams and Steeler dynasties are there who would not have if they had not won 4 championships... One or two more and we'll see how that affects the Patriots' players chances down the road...

i think Law is a lock because he was arguably 1 of the most dominant players before the rule change and injury. Pro Bowls. check. stats..check..on field performance, check and Superbowls..check as well as a pick 6 in the first 1

Let's not even try to put Mike Vrabel in Andre Tippett's league.

I will mildly disagree here. Vrabel IMO does have a chance at the HOF but he'll be among the very last Patriot players of this era to go in - maybe many, many years later after all the other Pats players you mentioned are already inducted. I see Vrabel in the same boat as Bruschi here in that both are underrated talent-wise. The three rings they already hold would garner some notice.

The HOF also looks at the player's career as a whole, not just how many championship rings he wears. The rings help of course, but you still have to be good.

Baloney! Do you realize how hard it is for a linebacker to be inducted in the Hall of Fame? Only three linebackers who played in the 1980's are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Hard, but not impossible. On that basis it can be said that Adam V has little chance too since there's only one true kicker inducted in the HOF. I'll still stand by my view that Vrabel has a chance, despite how small it is.

You're completely clueless. Only 16 linebackers are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Mike Vrabel isn't even close. Heck, Mike Vrabel couldn't even sniff Andre Tippett's jock let alone Steve Nelson.

I'm sure Tippett and Nelson wished they had 3 rings like Mike's. :D

The fact is Andre Tippett and Steve Nelson were better linebackers throughout their New England Patriot careers. Besides, Mike Vrabel has never been nominated to even ONE PRO BOWL!

we all know the truly unique part of Vrabel's contribution to the Pats is his inclusion in the goalline O. The guy's caught 10 career TDs. Including 2 in two different Superbowls. How many other LBs can stake that claim? A 3rd TD in a 3rd Superbowl would really be kind of unbelievable. Another ring, giving him 4, will give the voters alot more to think about down the road. i dont see him as one of the all-time great LBs. I see him as one of the all-time most versatile football players. He's a throwback. Not too many guys these days have done what he has.

Seymour was a key component every SB year, has reached the Pro Bowl almost every year of his career and is a perennial All-Pro selection. Vrabel was not even the best LB on any of those past SB teams, has never been a Pro Bowler or an All-Pro.

In Seymour's injury hampered year last year, he was still 2nd team All-Pro. He's also 4 years younger than Vrabel.

The NFL HoF is not the Baseball HoF.

Andre Tippett is not in the Hall yet and stands a good chance of not getting in. If Andre Tippett can't get in then there is basically nobody on this defense other than Seau who is going to get in.

I mean seriously, Andre Freaking Tippett isn't in the hall. Think about that when you are trying to determine who is going to make it.

    Belichick
    Brady
    Moss
    Seau

These are the only Hall-bound players on this team right now.

Ive always respected Tippett's game, so there's certainly no need to talk him down. But if these guys win it all again this year, they will represent possibly the greatest dynasty in NFL history. That' gonna carry some weight down the road. Its an overstatement, but there's obviously a big difference between players with no rings compared to those with 4. Considering Moss and Seau just joined the team, and if the get a 4th ring, Brady's not going to be the only 4 time Patriot champion going in the hall. He'll definitely have some company.
