How can this woman moderate? Sure, she might be a wonderful person, honest, and objective, but why on earth would anyone on the other side, the GOP side, want to take that chance? I'm not sure I would.

It evens out. Liberals are furious that Tom Brokaw will be moderating the next presidential debate. Do a search on youtube for McCain Brokaw for quite a few examples. Right now, liberals are demanding Brokaw apologize for recently citing poll numbers favorable to McCain from a poll taken immediately after the Republican Convention:

MoveOn Demands Apology From Brokaw For Citing False Polling

At any rate, I think journalists are journalists and will strive to bring objectivity to the debates. That goes for both Ifill and Brokaw. These issues crop up every election, but they're nonsense.

Don’t panic Saracuda's. The GOP did a real good job of making sure the debate format favors Palin and is set up to hide her un-"readiness". Biden will not be permitted to engage her, or talk to her directly. So all she has to do is answer the questions and throw in a few "zingers" (that he can't challenge), and she can coast through. It shouldn't be a problem since the expectations on how well she will fair are so low.

Also, I could be wrong, but I thought I read that both of them have the questions before hand, so it's gonna be hard for her to get tripped up or caught off guard. Don't quote me on that though.

Imagine the NY Time's front page if the moderator had written a book celebrating the life of John McCain. Ten Saturday night skits would follow spoofing the moderator. David letterman would reference it in his top 10 reasons. Olberman would name the moderator the worst person in the world, etc, etc, etc.

Im sure about the fact that he can't engage her (well he is not suppose to anyway), im just not 100% sure about them getting the questions before hand. I know i read it, but I can't remember where. I'll see if I can find it.

So I guess that means that Biden will be protected from asking Charlie to stand up, reminding us all how clean an African American Obama is, talking about sniper fire on his foriegn visits, or what channel FDR was on.

I think both parties agreed to the format, cuz both participants have their issues with an open mic.

I agree that they should have absolutely known about the book before hand. I think they clearly dropped the ball here. I'll also add that she shouldn't have been chosen as a moderator from the go.

The VP choice is irrelevent cuz everyone knows why each was chosen. Biden is white, catholic, and reassuring. Palin is female, a base conservative, and non-DC. People still don't understand that picking Palin has everything to do with the base, and what their enthusiasm provides McCain. He simply can't win without their support. He might not win anyway, but without the ground game behind him, and a solid turnout, he'd be toast. Palin gets the base behind him 100%.

Should any shame should go to the people who actually chose her as a moderator, or to herself for taking the job to begin with?

It will help Mccain, just another little reminder of how the left wing Messiah groupies operate.

The way I understand the process is that ideas are exchanged and things are then agreed to.. McCain should have known.. I am pretty confident that this is not some secretive action.. take it or leave it, but the Maverick should have known the details as he should have known Palin was screwing her husbands business partner.. if he does not know it shame on him.

I think I did say that already, so yeah. I also think that she clearly has a conflict of interest, and that her inclusion is a gross injustice to the process. Apparently though, you don't see it that way, as you think the blame falls soley on the people who didn't "investigate" the moderator. Of course, that begs the question, of whether or not a moderator should even require an investigation in the first place. Apparently in today's politics, one does.

I'd guess that if it were the flip, and the moderator wrote a book about the importance of MCCain's victory, which was to be released after the election, you'd be pointing your finger in more than one direction, like you're doing right now. Just a guess though.

If people needed any more proof that this is America's first "Affirmative Action" election, they need look no further. The wobbly-kneed of America have greased the tracks so much for the Barackorama spectacle that it'll be sticking around as long as the Boston Molasses Spill of a hundred years ago.

Baracko represents all that America has opposed in 240 years until now: tyranny of the few to enslave the many. If you want a socialist state nationalizing the entire economy, all business, all health care, all trade and employment -- a la Hugo Chavez -- then Obamarama is your man.

This is like the Community Reinvestment Act: the Republicans get blamed for NOT STOPPING the Democrats for passing legislation that now imperils the entire US economy. Kind of like blaming the villagers for not killing Dracula.

But we've still got a chance: we can kill Dracula by voting the Dems, including Obamarama, OUT of office in November.

Brokaw definitely leans left, but I think most of the time he tries to be objective. I know people may call me out on that, but I do. Patters is right in that respect, some journalists take their jobs seriously and put their political opinions aside. Others, however, don't, and I wish that was a shorter list than it is. Dan Rather comes to mind (as one who was openly biased).

Many didn't know he was that way which was a testament to Brokaw's professionalism.
