Brady, Portis are Week 17 FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Week
National Football League

Quarterback Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and running back Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins are the Week 17 FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week.

Tom Brady completed 32 of 42 passes for 356 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 38-35 win over the New York Giants to bring the Patriots to an undefeated regular season. Brady’s second touchdown pass was his 50th this season, setting a new NFL record for the most touchdown passes in a season.

Clinton Portis carried the ball 25 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the Redskins' 27-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Brady and Portis were selected from among finalists in air and ground categories. The other FedEx Express NFL Player of the Week finalists were quarterbacks Carson Palmer of the Cincinnati Bengals and Chris Redman of the Atlanta Falcons, while running backs Jamal Lewis of the Cleveland Browns and DeAngelo Williams of the Carolina Panthers were the other finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

Fans voted for more than their favorite players. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for the local community. Along with the player awards, FedEx is awarding Children's Hospital Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation, the children’s hospitals in the winning markets, two checks for $5,000.

The children's hospitals in the two season-long winner's markets, announced at Super Bowl XLII in Arizona, will be awarded $25,000 each. That means that FedEx will deliver nearly $250,000 to local children’s hospitals around the country in recognition of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Award winners.

FedEx, the premier global provider of transportation, e-commerce and supply-chain management services, is the Official Delivery Service Sponsor of the NFL, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. Through the weekly FedEx Air and Ground awards, FedEx recognizes those NFL players who represent the same speed, precision and teamwork that their customers have come to expect from the full range of FedEx air, ground, freight and international shipping services.

Belichick voted Week 17 Motorola NFL Coach of the Week
National Football League

Head coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots is the Motorola NFL Coach of the Week for games played on December 29-30, the NFL announced today.

Belichick led the Patriots to a 38-35 win over the New York Giants at the Meadowlands last Saturday night to complete an undefeated regular season at 16-0. Under Belichick's direction, QB Tom Brady completed 32 of 42 passes and passed for 356 yards and two touchdowns. WR Randy Moss caught both of Brady's touchdowns, the second of which set the NFL single-season record for touchdown passes by Brady (50) and the single-season mark for touchdown receptions by Moss (23). The Patriots also set the NFL single-season record for points scored (589) on Brady's 4-yard touchdown pass to Moss in the second quarter, breaking the 1998 Moss-led Minnesota Vikings' mark of 556. The Patriots gained 390 total net yards and controlled the ball for 36:18.

Defensively the Patriots forced one turnover that cost the Giants the game when CB Ellis Hobbs intercepted Eli Manning, which led to the Patriots' winning touchdown drive. The Patriots defense also held the Giants to only seven points from 9:12 in the third quarter until the end of the game, allowing the Patriots to emerge victorious and undefeated. Lastly, Belichick included starting linebacker Mike Vrabel on special teams during the final play of the game to successfully receive an onside kick and secure the win for New England.

Belichick was selected as Motorola NFL Coach of the Week from among three finalists by voters on NFL.com. The other finalists were head coaches Jeff Fisher of the Tennessee Titans and Joe Gibbs of the Washington Redskins.

Voting will begin Monday, Jan. 7 on NFL.com to determine the Motorola NFL Coach of the Year.

Motorola's brand has become synonymous with NFL coaches through the coaches' headsets worn during every NFL game. The NFL and Motorola recently unveiled newly designed Coaches Headsets that are lighter, thinner and more ergonomically advanced in comparison to their predecessors. Motorola believes NFL coaches are game-changing innovators whose creativity and expertise fuels the exciting brand of football enjoyed by millions of fans around the world.

His second for the year.

Co-winners would have been nice (Brady and Moss) seeing as how they tied and broke their individual season records at the same time. That said, there's alot of hardware coming Brady, Belichick and Mosses way...hopefully the Lombardi has room among all the awards. :D

I thought you said to vote for FredEx.

I can do that. Is he running for anything? He's as good as any of the ass clowns out there stumping in Iowa.
