Vinatieri lies to Globe and MacMullen ignores it

Just another example of rooting for clothes.

The truth is we don't root for players or coaches, or owners.... We root for our clothes. We want our clothes to beat the other teams clothes. If a player is wearing our clothes all of his downsides are forgotten and all of his attributes are overblown....And the second he puts some one elses clothes on he's a traitor!

How is adam a traitor?

Players generally want 2 things...Money & Championships...Well he got the first one 3 times...so i guess he went out to get the second.

If a player is looking out for his future and his family above some game then it sounds like his head is in the right place.

Football is a game and money is life.

Adam played his best with you guys and was a key contributer to multiple championships. A better situation came around so he took it.

He did not "backstab" you.

He wasn't switching out Bruschi's Heart medication.

He wasn't puting radioactive beetles in Brady's Helmet.

He didn't put Ex-lax in Corey Dillon's Protein shake.

But he did win championships for you. And he did always show up. And he worked hard when he was there....

Did Adam even grow up as a Patrots fan like some of you? Say one of you was drafted by the Broncos... Would you stay a patriots fan or would you convert to being a bronco fan?

Football fans are fickle. Anyone is alright..but only if they are wearing your clothes...

Well said. When Adam was here, he was a "great guy," and now he's an jerk. If you want to root against him that's fine but the man you all thought was so great when he was here hasn't changed. Only his uniform has. You all should stop crying like little babies and move on with your lives. You keep saying it's no big deal that he's gone, yet there is a Vinatieri thread virtually every day with 100 post to it. Move on.

It's no surprise you would call Adam a liar when you have no basis in fact. You do it to folks here all the time. So perhaps the problem is within you.

Hmm.. No basis in fact? Gee, Mo, we just have all the interviews and reports that he had done prior to Vinatieri signing with the Colts. Are you saying that every one of them was WRONG?

MoLewisrocks said:
First off there is no rule that stipulates you need to have an agent to negotiate a contract.

You are 100% correct. However, Adam has insisted on having one since he entered the league.

MoLewisrocks said:
Tedy doesn't have one (for that purpose).

Actually, Tedy Bruschi hired Brad Blank last year after his stroke.

MoLewisrocks said:
The only rule is that if you do have representation it must be an agent recognized by the NFLPA. And Hurst was Cornrich's "associate" who was representing Adam and several of Neil's other clients during his bosses suspension, although it's not clear in Adam's case if/when the arrangement with Hurst ever became official or was officially ended.

According to all the interviews in the Globe and Herald during the whole fall out period after Adam signed with the Colts, Cornrich was Adam's agent. Also, there is a mandatory 5 day waiting period that Adam would have had to go through. The only mention of Hurst previously was that he was acting as a consultant to Vinatieri and it was why Vinatieri seemingly didn't have to go through the waiting period. It had already passed after Cornrich was suspended.

During or after the visit in GB where the Packers GM has now said they were interested in making an offer but could not get a contract figure out of Hurst, Adam signed on with Willie's agent and they contacted Indy.

MoLewisrocks said:
Pioli and Belichick saw Adam almost daily in season. If they had any questions about his representation they could have taken those concerns to him. If they were believed he was not being officially represented they could have talked to him at any time about a deal. In fact I'm sure they could have any way given the relationship between Cornrich and Belichick. The issue wasn't access, it was length of contract and signing bonus. They reportedly began increasing their offer when the news of his visit to GB broke. They had apparently not come up to what Indy offered in length and bonus by the time he signed there 48 hours later. You snooze you loose.

Not sure where you got this, but the issue wasn't so much the length of contract as it was the guaranteed money (unless that is what you mean by signing bonus).

Anyhow, the fact of the matter is that Adam puts all the onus on the Patriots when he has just as much responsibility in this as the Patriots did. It amazes me how he takes no responsibility for the Patriots having to franchise him twice. Amazing how its always the fault of the Patriots and not of Adam's. Did he ever stop to think that maybe his demands were too high and that is why the Patriots didn't offer him the money he felt he deserved?
