Smoot is due a $2 million roster bonus. Should the Vikings cut him before paying him the bonus, they would save $400,000 in salary cap space and nearly $5 million in cash.
So tack Smoot on to the list of cornerbacks who will be free to sign with another team.

Are we interested at all?

i rather draft a CB..groom him for later..and a much cheaper option than Smoot who was bad in Minnesota and probably wants more money than hes worth..and im comfortable with Hobbs on the other side of Samuel.

NO ONE is to cut ANYONE ELSE, until I blow this whistle... DO YOU UNDERSTAND? Even if - and I want to make this absolutely clear - even if their teams would save a paltry sum off their cap that would only get used up by signing an inferior replacement.

I'd avoid him just so we don't have to put up with all the Fred Smut jokes.

Regards,
Chris

Better check PFT. He might be cut and signed already.

He could rent boats in Boston Harbor, hire a few escorts, party and then embarass this franchise.. yeah that is the type of guy the Patriots really like.

yeeeehawwww!!!! I'll take a ticket!!! Oh, wait. You're not serious.:( And you say it like its a bad thing, too!

I find it highly dubious that a team will cut a decent player at one of the highest paid premium positions in football in a budget climate where there is gazillions of extra cap space floating around the league right now; just to save a total of $1.6M off their own cap.

Plus the vikes have to look at that as money just paid back into the franchise. After all the money will just get dropped on HOs at the next team party and will be a good FA recruiting tool. :D (do we not have a dripping with sarcasm smilie?? )

Myra and the rest of the Kraft family will get all warm and fuzzy about this guy, not a shot in hell for him to wind up here.
