In a way, I hate the team receiving all these platitudes during the season. Maybe its the New Englander in me but it just doesn't feel right. That being said, I love this quote from Brady's father:

"He feels the Super Bowl is his divine right. If he can get his team to another Super Bowl, that will be five in nine years. It darned near feels like your divine right."

You can tell that is all he cares about. It is quite a rarity to find a person that can focus on one thing to such an extreme. Its clearly what makes him great.

    #12 Jersey

But the NFL has determined that the best offensive performance was Peyton Manning throwing for fewer yards, fewer TDs, and remarkably (for him) no INTs, in good weather vs. a lousy non-playoff team that has lost 6 in a row

I think the entire team was playing on a different planet. One with a lower gravity. That's why they throw the ball further and run faster.

Great more locker room material for the other teams. People already think he is a primadonna, now his dad is talking about manifest destiny vis a vis the super bowl?

Please, no. Publish this in late February, not now.

You really can't win with Patsfans.com.

Someone writes a positive article about the Patriots and folks complain, "the media is jinx us." Write a critical one and "they are disrespect us:.

    Disable Jersey

Like many fans I've posted specific performance crits of Tom Terrific on occasion, lamenting his eye fixation on Moss or Welker in different plays. That said the many Patsfans who in seriousness posted strident negative threads and comments on Brady this preseason and early season (past his due date, never recovered from knee injury, no longer focused or dedicated to football, etc.) need to step back and critique their own perspective and judgement.

Most Patsfans if not ALL of us reading these threads may never, ever experience a superlative player like this for their team ever again in their lifetimes. Enjoy the experience.

P.S. when much younger I got to enjoy the other Championship machine Bill Russell, so I'm twice blessed

There is reasonable praise, and there is insane over the top locker room material. Saying you are divinely ordained for the super bowl? That's over the top.

You know, I'm going to second this particular complaint. It's not about a "jinx" or "disrespect"; heck it's not about the article at all! It's about the preposterousness of Brady Sr.'s "divine right" quote. That's just a terrible, terrible quote.

A "right" to play in the Super Bowl?

Can you imagine if somebody said Manning or Roethlisberger believed they had a "divine right" to the Superbowl? How fast would Pats fans lay into them: "So Pay-me-a-ton, it's not a 'privilege' or something you should -- heaven forbid -- EARN, it's your RIGHT? Handed straight down to you from God, to place you above all the mere mortals who actually have to WORK their way there? Let me bow down before you, oh blessed one, and just hand you the Lombardi right now."

Obviously, that's not what Mr. Brady intended. But words like "all-consuming goal" or even "destiny" or practically anything would have been better than "right."

i wish the D got more credit for these blowouts. They have scored, made INT's in the EZ and setup short fields all resulting in blowouts.

Those are some of the most spine-chilling comments I've ever heard about Brady.

We are the luckiest fans...any sport...to be living and loving this ride...

    Thank you Tom Brady
