    Horrible.....

After September 11, 2001, a team of elite Delta Force commandos was sent into Afghanistan with an assignment to find and kill Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora -- but that mission failed.

The commander of the Delta Force team has now written a book which tells what he says is the true story of what went wrong. He appeared anonymously on CBS's 60 Minutes on Sunday to summarize that story.

Bin Laden was known to be holed up at Tora Bora on a ridge with an elevation of 14,000 feet. The Delta Force team's initial plan was to come at him from the direction he'd least expect, climbing over the mountains at his back, but that plan wasn't approved by the higher-ups. Their second idea, to drop hundreds of landmines along the mountain passes to Pakistan to impede bin Laden's retreat and then bring in helicopters, was also turned down.

"How often does Delta come up with a tactical plan that's disapproved by higher headquarters?" CBS's Scott Pelley asked the commando leader.

"In my experience, in my five years at Delta, never before," he replied.

I saw that 60 minutes last night. Interesting stuff.

Emmanuel Goldstein is just too valuable a figure I suppose.

Did he have any theories as to why it wasn't approved?

I'm just speculating, but I would bet Bush wanted this to las longer so he could crank up his military-industrial complex (haven't said that in years!) and the positive effects on the economy.

If that was ever proven to be correct about Bush, he should spend the rest of his life in prison.

If we killed Bin Laden the
John Murtha/Pelosi dingobats would have wanted to send the Soldiers who pulled the trigger to prison and they would want Bush impeached.

The NY Times, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS & Hollywood would have flown all Flags at Half Staff.

Says US officials ... let's face it ... it was Rumsfeld ... who made most if not all of the stupid decisions. Well, add this one to the disbanding of the army & police.

Yes, of course... It was the mere "stupidity" of one man. Not a coordinated effort to keep a terror symbol alive and "on the run."

Look, UBL was a paid CIA asset. The CIA does everything in its power to keep assets alive. And we all are well aware that Dick Cheney pulled/pulls the strings for Langley.

Their work in Afghanistan was far more about driving out the Taliban and reviving the poppy crop and laundering drug money than it was an honest attempt to hold "the people who attacked us" accountable.

They lied about getting bin Laden, they lied about the reasons for redeployment from that country to Iraq, they lied about Pat Tillman, they lied about civilian casualties, they lied about how much ground the Taliban was gaining, and they'll keep lying and lying until greater crisis overwhelms us here at home. Crisis that is well on the way.

We're chasing a ghost... Have been for 6 years. Some people in power know this, and want it to remain that way.
