    The US needs to control Afghanistan in order to prevent the Middle Eastern countries and Russia/China/India to link up new gas and other energy pipelines.

    Exactly right Mav! Some just don't understand that very few wars are fought over pure principal like WWII. Afghanistan is unfortunate but necessary.

    If we "just left everything alone" and only took care of what's inside our own borders, then the world would fall into chaos pretty quickly....especially as the world's energy supply runs down.
