    Good News.....

    I got this off of Rotoworld - I do not have access to Twitter from work.
    They got this from Breer's twitter account.

    Patriots C Dan Koppen is expected to miss 6-10 weeks with the fractured ankle suffered in Monday night's game.
    Koppen has a chance to return at mid-season, so injured reserve isn't an option at this point. NFL Network's Albert Breer calls the injury a "small crack, bad sprain in the ankle," with minor surgery likely. Koppen was a top run blocker in 2010, but the downgrade to Dan Connolly isn't as severe in pass protection.

    That's good news IMO

    If he comes back full strength, he'll be a little more rested up for the playoffs too. Just hope we don't suffer too many in the win column till then.

    Really good news, Koppen has been a really good player week in and week out his entire career and having him back for the play-off run would be great.

    more of a reason to LET HIM GO then RE-SIGN HIMwhen he is healed. It is common sense folks. I hope BB ACTS on this and does NOT waste a roster spot for 8 plus weeks on an injured dude.

    huh? No way do you release koppen. who says if he's released he's going re-sign with the patriots? i'd be offended i were him if the patriots did that to me.

    Did you not see the RE-SIGN him tidbit?

    right now in time he is a wasted spot. Cut him and let him know we will pick him right back up when it is time.

    There is so much wrong with this statement, I keep trying to find the sarcasm.

    1) Why piss him off? Nobody likes being released...even with a promise to re-sign at an unspecified later date.

    2) If I'm the Fins, I sign him immediately to a multi-year deal and move Pouncey to guard. If the Fins don't do it, I'm sure the Eagles would love to have him. Why take a chance on returning to the Pats when he can have a sure thing with another team...and promising him future money without having him under contract is a salary cap violation

    3) Once he is released, he can't rehab with the Pats. And that situation worked soooooooooo well for Manning, didn't it?

    4) The NFL gives each team 7 roster spots for injured dudes, developmental types and guys otherwise not ready to play.

    Not to mention if you release an injured player the Pats would be on the hook for an injury settlement... they would have to pay at least 8-10 weeks of his salary even if they released him tomorrow
