There is plently of room for upgrades, through a major signings or through the draft. In the meantime, Belichick is making some minor signings.

There are still some completely open positions which seem likely to be filled soon. This is a very short list less than a week into free agency.

    FB (Evans is still unsigned)
#3 S (Lew Sanders anyone? Spann is the #4)
    #3 WR (Galloway?)
    LS/OL (Leach?)

you don't think greg lewis is a #3 wr?

    #22 Jersey

One would think an OLB too

LS could be the Hocher too...

and since Moss and Welker are so good I would be OK with #3 and 4 being a combo of Greg Lewis and a Rookie.

I'd bet $1 Million bucks that Bill can't answer that question right now.

Excellent summary post Mgteich..... How about some competition at Punter?

BB and the FO addresses the spots you highlighted would make the draft with 6 nicely placed day 1 picks will be icing on the 2009 cake. :)

Greg Lewis right now looks to be the #3WR. I think we draft a WR to compete on day 2 though.

I have Shonn Greene slotted as a 3rd round pick to replace Evans. ;) Jennings would also be acceptable.

I love Rashad Jennings! Poor man's Mo Jones-Drew IMO :)

I would take either if Evans is not coming back. IF Evans comes back though, the Pats will be full at RB. Both are big 230 lbs guys that might eventually even supplant Maroney. *ducks the stones and slings of Maroney defender's club*

No seriously they look that good.

    Jennings.

  10. If the Pats can sign a S (Sean Jones), Jason Taylor, and another WR (someone better than Greg Lewis) there set for the draft.

They already paid 3M to resign Sanders. They are not going to spend an additional 5M for Sean Jones. Sorry to break it to you.
It looks like the rest of the Pats needs, mostly backup needs, will be filled via the draft.

I, for one, see Lewis as the #3. I mean, at this point Lewis would be rated higher then Gaffney who was sitting on the couch in 2006. With Brady as his QB he will have his best year ever next year and earn that #3 role.

I don't think we will go into the season with Moss, Welker, Lewis and Aiken as our wide receivers.

    :) done!

I was listing just open positions. Hanson was expected back, and is back. Malone is the camp competition.

Ask and you shall receive? Apparently yes.....

I do agree with JSn in another post that 1 or 2 holy-cow moves are coming in the next week or less. Common-sense says that will be at the OLB position.

Peppers? Taylor? I play for Suggs? The anticipation is building.....

Is Jason Taylor really a "holy cow" move at this point? :)

The Eagles kept Lewis over Gaffney because Gaffney doesn't play special teams, not because Lewis was the better receiver.

don't think there is room for a FB. LSanders did a decent job, but would rather see Roy Williams back there to replace Rodney.
