Saved a TD. Then saved another one to seal the game. I wonder if Asante could have made either of those plays, quite frankly

He definitely did the job on the last play, I was impressed. When was this first saved TD? When he chased the guy down on the long completion near the end? Cause Hobbes caught the guy at about the same time anyway.

I didn't realize that Deltha was that fast!

From what I saw, he looked really good.

Great post, and you are correct. While one game won't prove the Deltha O'Neil bashers wrong, I expect in time they will be saying "I was wrong".

I thought Tom Brady played CB on Sunday.

O'Neal looked pretty good and he played a lot for a guy that was just signed. They also had him returning punts, and while he didn't do anything with that, I was impressed that a guy who just joined the team could come in and contribute so much in the game.

For a guy that had about 10 minutes of "time in defense" on the team before playing in a game, I'd say he aquitted himself quite well. I think this will end up being a GREAT pick-up for us.

I agree, Deltha was solid. You can see his athetism and speed, a great pick up, although I was disappointed we didn't see more of Wheatley, hopefully that will change this week. I'm not sold on Lewis Sanders, Lewis is depth only to me.

I also thought he played well at CB, and seems to still have a good deal of speed and athleticism. I liked the intensity he showed as well.

The only negative I can really point out is that Deltha should have called for fair catches a couple of times on punt returns, instead of trying to make something happen (he played it a little to dangerously for my taste).

Agreed...he came fasy and saved a Darling TD...that was quite big...and at the end, he played tough NOT getting a PI call..Showed a lot of promise..speed....I think they wanted LSanders at corner because of Bowe's height..My guess is one will see a bit of a rotation at the CB opposite Hobbs..for now.. O'Neal only had a few days of practice..so ge's a definite option.

Just the amount of playing time he saw after just a few days with the team was impressive -- it looks like the coaching staff has faith in him. Definitely changes the look of the CB corps, very encouraging.

Of course, this raises the obvious question--WTF were the Bengals thinking when they released him? [Yeah, I Know, there's a reason they're called the Bungles. But still. . . .]

I think keeping O'Neil and Hobbs fresh makes the field a scarier place for QB's like Favrest Gump to throw to.

Few more games like that and we'll have O'Neil Jerseys. Heck, Lynch had 'em before the season started. Which is amusing.

O'Neal may be a downgrade from Samuel but he looked good on Sunday - I should add, I have no idea why some say he should have had PI called on the last play, all the bumping was reasonable and within five years - where we're really better, though, is our depth. Last year Gay was our #3 CB and I'm not even sure who #4 was - maybe even Meriweather. This year, if you assume Hobbs and O'Neal are the starters, Wheatley and Sanders and a nice #3/#4 pair in some order.
