Ultimate Betrayal: Troy Brown visiting Jets

Whatever happens we should all have Troy's back. He's done so much for this organization and deserves our support. It'd be sad to see him go, but it is what it is. More power to him if he can get a big paycheck with some other team. I'm sure that Troy's heart will always be in NE. God bless T. Brown.

I agree but any team other than the Jets or Colts.

The man wants to play football. The Patriots don't want to sign him. How is that betrayal?

IMO anyone who boos Troy if he comes to Foxboro in a Jets uniform is a ****.

Signing with the Jets is literally the only thing that Troy Brown could do that would make me dislike him as a player (although as soon as he retired, I'd have no problem ignoring that it ever happened). He could even sign with the Colts, and I'd be okay with it. Just not the Jets.

If it's about money,
Krafty should have given him 1.5M to just retire as a Patriot without
playing for any other team.
I just can't believe he would play for the JETS .... love his play over
the years but .... this blows!
Troy probably just wants to stay close to NE that's way the JETs.

This sounds like Red Sox angst trying to translate over to football.
Non issue imo.
Go Troy!!!!
Pats & BB still rule!!!

Considering that it's troy, I doubt that this is about the money. It's about him wanting to continue to play football, and I doubt that a $1.5M bribe would factor into his decision.

I know it's all about the money for the player - hence PROFESSIONAL. They play for pay.

But come on Troy, all these years as a Patriot - could you really sick the knife into your fans back like this??

Seriously, as a fan - we cannot control who comes and goes. We sure can cheer on our favorites though.
Troy you had BINGO here....do not ruin it and go out leaving your loyal fans with a bad taste in their mouths.

You want to play - fine - go just about anywhere but there.

Don't do it Troy aka Mr. Patriot.

Just another athlete who doesn't know his time is up. He could not make the lineup last year you'd think he would retire gracefully but instead it looks as though the hero will have to be dragged kicking and clawing out of the arena. Never to be heard from again.

Amen. The Patriots cut a couple of promising rookies to make sure Troy would have a spot when he came off the PUP last season. Belichick and the organization showed their loyalty to him then. I'm slightly amazed that after getting virtually no playing time, he didn't take the hint and retire. Never underestimate the degree of self delusion in professional athletes.

Troy, I have no problem with you or any other former patriot going elsewhere. I rooted/root for you as the person I followed as a fan of my favorite team. By donning another jersey you are not flipping a switch or loyalities in my opinion.

You are a competitor and we have experienced that for 15 plus years. In real competitors, in my opinion, this can not be turned off like a switch.

I respect what you have done for the NEP as a player and as a person who has done so much good volunteer work throughout NE.

If you do go to the Jets and elsewhere I wish you all the best, as always except when you play against NEP.....

Promising rookies?

I thought BB expressly stated that "There always will be a place for Troy Brown on this team." Am I mistaken here?

That was last year when they thought, "there's no way he'll come back next year..." ;)

By the way, anyone else think the Jets (and maybe others) will have Troy in for an interview, but realize he doesn't have it any more and not offer a contract? I think the Jets are just tweaking us (as usual). My bold prediction is that Troy will make the rounds then reluctantly retire some time during the season (when he's sure no one's going to call him in as an injury replacement). I guess we'll see what happens.

Not to worry... Troy's probably just on a deep cover assignment for Belichick and Kraft... sign with the Jets, steal all signals, playbooks, get the dirt on MangIdiot, and then come back to the Patriots in a front office role to pull a "ManJudas" and tell the Commissioner all he knows.

There's no other logical explanation!

;)

Troy Brown as a JET is as digestible as being on your knees, puking in a "Porta-Potty" at a Greatful Dead concert. Yeah................. I know some of you just passed out. If Troy signs with (Of all teams) the Jets, then he ruins his own place in PATRIOT NATION Lore. GO PATS!

Maybe if we could invent a new position for him, like "interception returner tackling specialist" he could hang on a few more years. :bricks:

Thats pretty funny.........however; Randy Moss doesn't make that play in a million years and the Patriots lose that game.

anyone who thinks troy brown screwed the pats can **** off. he was a team player who did everything he was asked to. he worked his butt off and even after he was released he still came back. the pats said they do not have plans for him in 2008. so the guy can go to whatever team he wants and i will be a fan of him. some fans need to look at things from a players viewpoint for a change

I hope Troy Brown signs with the Jets. That will ensure the Pats don't waste a roster spot on him for the 4th consecutive year. He was finished in 2005, when his fumbled punt vs Denver cost the Pats the game. He should have got his pink slip then. Only a sentimental streak from Pats ownership and coaches kept him around so long.
Wow I think this is a bit harsh...the Pats coughed it up 5 times that game. I don't believe in one play costing a team a game though. I doubt highly he was ever kept around solely for sentimental reasons by BB. His last active game, he was prepared to play CB if needed (Jax playoff).
I agree with what Brady said in that one article, you look up Patriot in the dictionary and there is a picture of Troy Brown. I could never hate that man...even if he goes to the Jets. And I certainly don't think of anything a player does as a betrayal when he is cut by the team.

Classic, just classic.
i would hate to see troy playing with the jets. but tell me how its the ultimate betrayal if he does? the pats told him that they wouldnt be bringing him back. another sh-t thread that is becoming common place here.
