Think Progress UK blocks publication of Iraq war discussions.

The British government said today that it will not “publish records of cabinet discussions on the legality of invading Iraq in 2003, despite a tribunal ruling in January that it should release them.” Justice Secretary Jack Straw blocked the request made under the Freedom of Information Act, saying that release of the records would “risk serious damage to Cabinet government.” Previously released government documents revealed that former Attorney General Peter Goldsmith had “cast doubt on the legal grounds for war” just days before then-Prime Minister Tony Blair ordered British troops to invade Iraq.

How dumb do they think we are?

    I guess...REALLY dumb.

release of the records would “risk serious damage to Cabinet government.” ???????

I'm pretty sure jack straw is a holdover from the Blair adm. and would want to keep what really happened under wraps.

    Perhaps even criminal...

It's the same "to the ends of the Earth" cover up that has occurred with the murderous cabal that just left in this country. Never admit anything, block investigations, ignore subpoenas, claim executive privilege, pretend releasing such transcripts "would aid the terrorists," so on and so forth. So far, it's worked.
