You forgot to mention the upcoming Celtics and Bruins seasons.

Just add a few more players and coaches and the word suck and you will be fine.

    My Jersey:

Being in CT, I don't get WEEI - but on the way up to the Sox game Monday, listening in for about 40 minutes was sickening.

Immediately following a call-in interview with Tedy Bruschi, the first callers opening word's were "First off, that's all nice and all Tedy, but the Pats are 3-2 and have no Brady, they're done. Sox are in the ALCS and this is a baseball town, anyways..."

The caller was then eventually hung up on for hinting at the Red Sox possibly being racist. Disgusting.

I think we should suggest Fitzy base his next video on this typical conversation.

To be honest, when it comes to Boston fans (the topic of this thread), I don't know that it's being spoiled so much as still being incredibly cynical and bitter from all the heartbreak from the Sox before 04. It's the opposite of spoiled, a lot of people are just really, really pessimistic and hard.

People who are exclusively or mainly Pats fans (typically non-Bostonians) or new fans don't have that excuse, though.

I didn't think line 5 was very fair. Its not just Boston fans who think Cassel sucks. Go to any message board, for any NFL team, and ask if Cassel sucks. I am sure it will be unanimous. Besides that.............great post.

Actually, what i say is that we lost the Best player in the NFL so expect a tough year, the only way the Patriots were going to stay elite was with a superior D and thats not happening.

As for the Sox, they had a great year but Tampa is just the better team right now, better pitching, better clutch hitting and healthier, hungrier young guys. Not to mention that Papi, Varitek, Ellsbury are automatic outs and Beckett should not even be pitching.

Better seasons next year for both teams. Good future.

LOL, so true. But hey, there's a lot to complain about right now. :)
Anyways if you can't laugh at yourself as a fan, you've lost your sense of humor imo.
I also liked how you stuck in the ubiquitous dunkin donuts reference. Why does it seem like there's one on every corner in Boston?

I love Dunkin Donuts! As a Canadian who's coming down for Pats vs. Jets game November 13th, I'll be bring a few pounds of coffee grains back with me, and some Sam Adams of course! :D

Getting back to topic, Mass fans have been really lucky to have witnessed so many championships in the last 9 years and maybe with the struggles of the Pats and Sox, they can step back realize how lucky they've had it.

    You forgot:

"Yeah, Yaz sucked. Only got to one World Series and lost."
"Yeah, and Ted Williams too. He never won the Series either."
    "Yeah. He really sucked."
"And Bird. That piece of s#!t only won three titles in 14 years."
"Yeah, sucked big time. McHale too. Effing losers the bunch of them."
"Yeah, I'm sticking to the Beanpot. At least a Boston team wins every year."
"Yeah, but the losers all suck."
    "Dunkin Donuts Coffee sucks too."
"Yeah, tastes like Matt Cassel made it or something."
"He sucks. Can't even make a cup of coffee."
"Yeah. That's what I heard too..."

That's just the thing. Living outside of Boston, nobody really gives a damn about Matt Cassel. So I wouldn't say it's the world... unless of course you think the world revolves around Boston.

"Bird, what a chokah. He shudda beatin Magic in '87 but he choked on that shot in Game 4"
"Yeah, I got hammered after that game. Sucked"
"Yeah, and dont bring up Yaz, effen loser popped up against Gossage"
"Gossage, I could hit Gossage, all he did was throw it straight 100 miles an hour. I could tag the bastahd"
"Yeah, right, ya retard, only thing you could tag is your mother"
"Shut yah mouth before I staht wailin on ya"

speaking of Dunkin Donuts, I finally found one in Lawrence,KS. The Indian dude who owned the place promised me there are plans in the works to opne about 50 of them in the KC area. And theres a sub shop chain called Jersey Mikes that just opened here in Olathe that's ALMOST as good as D'Angelos.

But the baaastahhhds dont make the Crabmeat Subs or the Chicken Salad subs i used to get at D'Angelos. Seafood sucks here, chinese food sucks, BUT the meat is incredible in KC. You can get a steak at any IHOP here better than anything in Boston.

    ok..food report is over .......

I still have bitterness from before 01 with the Pats. That kind of imprinting doesn't go away quickly. It's like an old glove you find after it's been in the closet seven years. It's amazing how quickly it feels comfortable again.

I was born in 1970, and know many many years of Pats/Sox heartbreak. (Celtics, OTOH, were the saving grace in my teens).

I try to fight it, to not be that a-hole Boston guy. I think I need a 12 step program for Boston sports fans with residual PTSD.

You actually ate those things? Man, you are a trooper.

I went to grad school in San Diego, and was horrified at the lack of Dunkin' Donuts. Bunch of freaking smoothie franchises instead. It was culture shock. What I missed most of all was the 'X' House of Pizza (where X is your town's name). Every town in New England has it, and it always seems to be amazing thin greasy pizza.

OK sorry to derail with my high-brow culinary tastes.
