Troy Brown,Ty Law: "Pats Cant Play Man To Man D"

New England, NOLA and Green Bay all have comparable defenses...

Not sure what happened to McCourty...

Pittsburgh, the Pats and the Colts seemed to have little problem winning 5 out of the last 10 SuperBowls while playing predominantly zone defense.

How to make up for the inability to play man-to-man? Create turnovers and a decent pass rush. If the Pats can't do that in the playoffs they're done.

If both guys came back to play for the Pats right now Troy Brown would be the #3 receiver and Ty Law would be the #1 CB.

the only difference is that the pack are 12-0 so it hides their warts

...and they will show up at some point.

G'ints put up 447 yds of offense and 35 pts today in the flow of a competitive game.

pats also have something the packers dont....a Running game that you can use to control the clock. since the packers cant run that means you can have anderson in there all day rushing Rodgers.

im not buying theres such a huge difference between the packers and patriots defenses...the only difference is that the pack are 12-0 so it hides their warts

That's if they decide to run.

The New England Patriots defense did not accomplish those goals against Sanchez and the New York Jesters in the playoffs last season.

If Belichick didn't think it was garbage time, he wouldn't have been using Sterling Moore as one of his top-2 CBs.

And McCourty is apparently our #1, what's your point? We don't have many options.

Some of you are overreacting about the playoffs. In the AFC, other than possibly Rapistberger we wouldn't have to face an above average QB. The offense won't be relied on to score 30+ but they can't afford to crap their pants like they have int he last 3 playoff games.

If we were to make the super bowl though that's the one game where Brady will most likely have to be perfect. Those odds aren't great but still much better than having to play lights out in 3 or 4 straight playoff games. It's not as bad as y'all think. But ANY team going against NO/Packers will have to score alot of points.

2001 TB would be the #2 WR.

I wonder if the TBrady of now had the TBrown of 2001, his numbers might be Welker-ish....

A 2001 Law makes this team a SB favorite. People forget how lock-down he was.

Some people on here think we were playing prevent defense in the 4th? How delusional can you be? The defense cant make a stop when they need to, and cant get off the field on 3rd downs. They allow 10+ minute drives to Indy, that happens when you have horrid personnel on defense.

You're a blind homer if you defended this defense today. Sorry, it's reality. And no, they didn't gain most of their yards in garbage time, which I've read a lot today. We're damn lucky we recovered that onside kick. Completely folding in the 4th doesnt equal this fictional "garbage time"

/rant
9-3, have the division locked, will be a 1 or 2 seed in the playoffs. That is reality.

That is not defending the defense that was out there in the 4th quarter today, we probably will not see that combo the rest of the year, including the playoffs.

And we were 14-2 last season with the #1 seed...oh how much joy that brought everyone for our regular season trophy. We have a worse defense this season.

it's pretty obvious but they're 100% right. If the offense has an off day, we're done.

If a team can pressure Brady, we're in trouble. Denver game will be interesting in this regard. We cannot rely on our running game. Not only will our defense be worse than any other playoff team's defense, so will our running game. In the secondary, Dowling has been hurt, and Chung as well but he will return. Indehegibo is a surprise, and Arrington has been outstanding. But McCourty's free fall is killing us. We've plucked some interesting players off the scrap heap, but none is going to cover anyone's #1 WR in the playoffs. As for the running game, after drafting RBs at 2 and 3, the failure of either to emerge as any sort of threat is disappointing. Maybe the secondary and the RBs will suddenly pull things together, but they need to take big steps in the next few games or it'll be one and done in Jan again. Orlovsky goes 30/37 for 353. Yikes.

The point is that it's absurd to act like the Pats weren't taking it easy toward the end of the game.

The New England Patriots defense is not playing any better than last year especially in the first week of December.

As for the AFC Playoffs, the New England Patriots lost to a below average quarterback last season in the divisional round.

The defense sucks. This should surprise nobody.

The question in the playoffs won't be whether or not the Patriots defense is good. It's not and, barring improvement that would be just short of a miracle, it's not going to be. The question will be whether or not it's good enough.

That remains to be seen.

Let's call this what it is. If Brady gets hot and our OLine gets healthy we can win a SB.

If Brady and OLine plays so so then we will lose in the playoffs.

It's just the way this team will be until we improve this D through FA or Draft

True, but the difference between GB and the other 2 are that Woodson, Matthews and Tramon Williams are all dangerous playmakers on D.

Jets running game is pretty bad

It's absurd playing Sterling Moore at cornerback.
