I am a little surprised in that if he's waited this long, waiting until more injuries hit there might have been something for him. But I suppose he needs to move on.

By the way, jeffbioligist, you need to learn how to post links. By morning the blurb on that page will have scrolled off. The story it links to is at the Herald, Troy Brown to officially bid adieu? And notice the question mark in the headline.

Cant find the reference but at one point I believe Parcells said Troy Brown was (one of?) the best draft picks he ever made.

    Best memories are easy:

    OT Bomb Against Miami
    Strip in SD January 2006
Reception during 'the drive' and gets out of bounds
Fake FG pass from Vinatierri to Brown @ St Louis

    No Jersey Selected

He's had as many big plays for this organization as anyone. No acclaim is enough for him as far as I'm concerned.

I'll never forget how he played 3-ways for the team.

    It's a real shame really.

In the 5-6 years I have been a Patriot fan, and I learnt about the teams history, his name was mentioned soooo much, especially from 2001.

He is the definition of 'team player' and 'versatility'.

He truly is a great and a legend.

I hope he comes back as a coach here, I think he'd be a great one and I'd love to see he stay with the organization.

Couple of years ago went to his charity bingo, got my pix taken with a real highlight for myself.. he helped this organization get to where it is today, and will not be forgotten..

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but Monday night the ESPN guys were talking about the T.O. circus. Chris Carter said something to the effect that what T.O. should do is take a look at Troy Brown's career and see what teamwork and dedication did for his career - 3 Super Bowl rings, etc. It came out of nowhere, but I thought it was a great compliment to a guy that is the finest example of teamwork anyone can think of.

I am selfishly relieved he is retiring here and there wasn't some end-of-career split with the team and then a reincarnation elsewhere.

Because he is a quintessential Patriot and could never wear another uniform ever.

Yeah, Troy is what Coach always looks for first: A football player. Always did what was asked of him. Never complained. Showed up prepared and ready to work. Played for 60 minutes and played every snap as if the game rested on it.

Troy ought to get some special recognition for his efforts, and I expect he will. He is the best example of team-mate that I could think of.

Here's to you, Troy! Fair winds and following seas, wherever you go!

I am also glad to see him retire having worn only a Patriots uniform. My preference would have been for him to retire from the team after getting a ring and not get released, but that was not meant to be.

A true team player who will always be at the top of my list of favorite players. I hope we as fans get to see him further through an ongoing relationship with the team after his playing career.

The questionmark once omitted may as well be non existent. Hope this isn't Tomase trying to boost Felgie's ratings for an evening...

Somehow I always assumed when Troy made his decision it would be announced in a well publicized and attended Partiots PC rather than on Felger's Mohegan Sun gig ...
