Agreed. Moving away from what is working is not a good half time adjustment. One of the few times Bradys ego was bigger than the Patriots. He could of of easily mixed it up between Moss and Hernandez all day long. I'll never figure out why he did this.

Within the article lies the answer.

Interesting. I have been mad at Brady this week. Dilfer seems to think Brady was taking what the defense gives you. If this is true, I have some serious concerns about this offense.

Looks like Hernandez could turn out to be one of the biggest draft steals in recent memory. I have no idea why so many teams passed on him, considering the moment we drafted him it was hailed a sky high risk/reward pick. There were some character concerns, but players often go in the top 10 with much worse issues.

Hernandez appears at the early juncture of the season to be up there with Jahvid Best,CJ Spiller and a few others for ROTY

If teams with as good a defense as the Jets have, have no defense to contain Hernandez, than how many teams we face will?

IMO from what I have seen, the only ways Hernandez is not in serious consideration for ROTY is going to either be because of injury or Brady's lovefest with a double covered Moss all season

There were plays to be made,if you watch the 3rd quarter again during the INT,you will see a wide open Tate down the middle of the field being missed by Brady throwing early and to a completely covered Moss resulting in the turnover

Yep, he is... in fact, Spiller has done nothing so far, though it's early. What I love about Hernandez is he's a tight end... a lot of these guys peak in their late 20s, early 30s, and it's rare to find someone blast off so fast at his position. With these running backs, you get a lot of fast starters who gradually get slower and weaker, eventually out of the league by age 27. He may also be our answer to the number three receiver spot.

I do have a feeling that we will see a good dose of
Crumpler in this game and a little less Hernandez, don't know why but just a hunch BB will get the elder TE in the flow of the season in a game against an inferior opponent and leave Hernandez fresh for another division opponent in prime time

Based on these responses, not many actually read the article. One person said it's O'Brien's fault. Another said he'll never understand why Brady zeroed in on Moss.

The article states, for anyone who can't ready a few hundred words and really wants it summarized, that the Jets tried to force Brady to go to Moss. That's why Dilfer "can understand" why Brady kept throwing to 81.

You know what? Enough..enough already man.

They lost. How much effort are we going to put on this game?

Fine, let's learn from it and move on.

How about why the coordinators never noticed and made Brady aware of it. I don't want to believe that his ego gets in the way of winning or beating the Jets (which he himself says - he hates).

I saw the same things Dilfer did, and a few of us have mentioned this after looking at the tape again. Just read all of AndyJohnson's posts. Although I disagree with Andy about Brady's accuracy (I thought Brady made 3 inaccurate throws in the second half) I totally agree with him on Brady's decision-making. One problem that Dilfer did not address is the gameplan, the runs for 2 yards, the 3rd and longs. I'd imagine the Jets would have called different defenses if it were 3rd and short.

It's true love between Tommy and Randy, no doubt. Watch out Gisele!

You are definitely seeing something I don't see.

We are talking about the first INT here.

I see 3 Jets rushing, the OL and Gronk are all on the LOS.

    Counting Brady, that's 7 Patriots.

Moss is man-on-man with Cromartie. 8 Patriots.

There are 2 guys on Welker, 9 Patriots.

This literally means there are 5 Jets out there covering Tate and the other receiver (bottom of my screen, out of the picture).

Are we talking about the same play? The first INT?

    Bizarre comment.

Taylor beat his man, he was there in 2 seconds.

Who knows what Brady would have done if Light had blocked his guy.

They are called progressions for a reason.

So it appears Dilfer sees what I see. Teams are beginning to give you Moss particularly outside because they believe doing so is no longer a "given". They are focusing more attention on the middle of the field and Welker. Of course the problem with coming to terms with that has potential repurcussions that extend beyond the field...and beyond this season. If you cannot hurt them in the process, they win. The Patriots have until now taken the long term view. So the answer isn't to stop going to that WR, it's to connect with him more. But that is a two way street. And if it not only doesn't happen but if it consistently causes more harm than good, they will have to go away from the receiver. They will also find it increasingly important to find a way to run the ball with some authority and not shoot themselves in the foot when they do (penalties).

Yeah, in that case Dilfer seldom made a second read remotely fast enough to beat what happened on that play...few do.

We will now find out if Tom and Randy are still an elite combo. And a lot rests on the outcome.
