From Globe:
Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli was present at the Dallas Cowboys' practice yesterday, apparently to scout players for a possible trade. The Cowboys have some depth at linebacker, which is an area of need for the Patriots. One possible target is Scott Shanle (6-2, 245 pounds), who started the Cowboys' exhibition opener against the Seahawks in what some considered an audition. The 26-year-old Shanle, a four-year veteran who played at Nebraska, started eight games last season and has a background in the 3-4 defense under Bill Parcells. The Cowboys are seeking help at offensive tackle and receiver, and the Patriots have some depth at the tackle spot. The Cowboys had a member of their scouting staff in Foxborough this week.

Very interesting, give up O'Callaghan (maybe thats why he's been at starting RT, to showcase) or Gorin?

Here's Shanle NFL Bio:

as he was there something could happens soon

we are quite deep on OL so...let's see what will happens...

we need surely help at LB

That would be interesting, however would like to know the details of Shanle's contract, I don't see a lot of value in renting a player and giving up one of our young studs on the O-line, imo cannot have enough quality players in that position.

This is from the Star-Telegram today:

Ready to deal?
Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli, who is also Bill Parcells' son-in-law, attended Tuesday's afternoon practice.
Parcells has said the Cowboys would do a scout swap with select teams to evaluate players for a potential trade. The Cowboys are in need of wide receiver help and have the luxury of linebacker and defensive line depth to offer.

Interesting the DMN points out Dallas is in need of WR help. We sure don't have a to offer in that dept. at the moment.

TO?

I seriously hope Deion isn't involved in this.

A little off topic, but who would have thought Bledsoe would hold onto the ball too long.

After taking too long to throw the ball, Drew Bledsoe had a deep throw intercepted

In regards to the trade, I agree with ItalianPat - give them Gorin.

I'd rather see the Pats go 0-16 than bring in a putz like T.O. ...

Dealing Gorin would work for a linebacker as far as wide reciever no telling since there is no real stand out.

So would BB. I'm not sure about a lot of things but I am sure that Owens will NEVER wear a Patriot uniform. At least not as long as Belichick is here. That speculation is just ludicrous.

That would be intriguing as hell, the possibility that they're reasoning "hmmm, we get a total 6 games out of Deion then he hits FA... he won't really be ready and we get no further value other than trade value..."

But I would hope they got something really good, if anybody is really even thinking that way.

Hey, it's part of the "alls fair in love and war" continuum Deion is playing with right now. Now THAT, I would love to see (IF we got a good price for him... just please, God, not Terry Glenn. Or TO. Huh... maybe just the LB and a ton of draft picks. Come to think of it, this "team without wide receivers" thing might have legs...)

Gorin for Shanle looks good.

For some reason I wouldn't mind a Branch for Carpenter deal either.

Looks like the Pats agree Beisel isn't cutting it and want to find a 4th LB...

Since we are swapping scouts to go to practice, I highly doubt there would be a trade of any player not currently practicing (ei Branch or TO (the latter of which we would never trade for anyway)).

But I could be wrong. A stud linebacker would be great.

But this guy shanle sounds like he has the same pedegree Beisel had coming in here. Not sure if he would be an upgrade.

Of course if the swap is him for Gorin, it may not be a bad idea.

I certainly would not mind either one of those deals. You could throw in Eddie Berlin and Kelvin Kight with Gorin and I would still be ok with it.

But I pondering the fact that with the Cowboy scout in camp that we decided to put O'Callaghan with the ones. They might have been showcasing our new tallent to make a trade.

I would also feel better about it if Kaczur would get back onto the field.

Or if we go Branch for Carpenter, then really would like to see Jackson back out on the field.

I would absoloutley love that!!!!

But in all seriousnes I really don't think that Parcells would trade Carpenter, as Carpenter really is a Parcells guy... so it probably won't happen.

But it would be sweet if it did:cool:

Are you giddy or is it the Nyquil?

correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't Branch still be under the contract he has issues with? So trading him to Dallas would just mean he would hold out there too. Unless Dallas gave him all the money and I don't think Parcells will do that. Anyone one know how much salary cap room Dallas has?
